  1. Iphone 6 / 6S Holder

    Background
I found this model in Thingiverse and thought I would print it. It was also the first time I had used Gold PLA.

    Print
For the print I used an 8mm 'Brim' to help adhere the base to the build plate. Recently with printing I have found the 'Brim' no only stops/reduces warping. But it also allows the printer to get settled for the printing task.

    Print Settings:
    Layer Height - 0.15 mm
    Wall Thickness - 1.0 mm
    Top/Bottom Thickness - 1.0 mm
    Infill Density - 15 %
    Enable Retraction - Yes
    Print Speed - 40 mm/s
    Travel Speed - 120 mm/s
    Enable Print Cooling - Yes
    Enable Support - No
Build Plate Adhesion Type - Brim - 8 mm
Print Sequence - All at once

    Sanding / Finishing
    1. Pliers used to remove Brim
    2. Tweezers used to remove Brim inside cable housing
    3. 120 Grit Sandpaper (with water) used on the side to remove Brim
    4. 220 Grit Sandpaper (with water) used on the side to smooth edge
    5. 320 Grit Sandpaper (with water) used on the side to finish edge

    Completion
The print came up in high quality which required some sanding to remove the brim and also the material on the underside of the cable holder housing. This print works very well in holding my phone and amplifying sound.
This is not my design I got it from: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1289078

About a mounts ago, I received the ultimaker 2 I've won with the Ultimaker/Oneplus Challenge.
I promise Sander to add a image of my first print on the forum.
So I began thinking what object should I print first.
One thing becomes another, I've printed a example installation for a client.

  10. Tigris Plate test

    Lots of pics...
Just a quick attempt at acid plating on a failed model (split) after a break from it. but it failed because the copper I'm using is of a different grade than it should be and it just goes weird. Still learning here, just dug up my airbrush from 15 years ago and it still works!!! silver coated before electro bath and voltage was probably too high too. Im gonna try brush plating next. Due to the complete contamination of both copper and solution, a decent plate is not possible anymore but ill keep going till I get nothing.
Gonna do a vid/thread later about this but i need to figure out whats going wrong first!

  21. starwars ep7 stormtrooper helmet

    Hi
Doing a lot of work in solidworks lately, and messing about with the surfacing tools, i modelled my own starwars ep7 stormtrooper helmet (full size, wearable) to seen if it could handle this type of shape. Worked out ok, gave it a quick paint job with primer and a black and red marker to weather and make it look like finns. first print 1/4 size.

  23. Babylong 5 PPG, Old Test Print

Did that one a few years ago on a UM2. Testing the efficiency and quality of 3D printing viable props for movies.
Honestly... it was a great experiment. We went on to 3D printing numerous different props for movies, commercials, etc.
Linked to a different, more recent PPG 3D file.
