I use the Ultimaker mostly for making prototypes. When satisfied, the model is send to Shapeways or something similar to be printed in metal or polyamide. It is possible to use the PLA model directly for casting, but I don't do this myself. I have a roll of MoldLay lying around, but didn't have the time to try.

it is a great feature for most of the prints.....but not all... (high poly, really annoying!)
it would be SO NICE to have a tick box, to temporarily prevent it from auto slicing.
Everybody happy!!!

is it me or did the scrolling of the pages disappear?
-
first impression:
first opening-select your printer --> Ultimaker Original: by default only the dual extrusion upgrade box is ticked. Should it be the opposite by default only the extruder driver upgrade?
First start: the settings do not show anything because, and this took a while to find out, there is no profile choosen. For a beginner this might be confusing because nothing seems to work.

this is what I see, not very interesting.......

yes, now it shows the right picture, but they are still in the lower corner, is that intended??
-
still the wrong pictures and place...:(

5% is way to big
https://ultimaker.com/en/community/prints/1041-micro-working-circular-saw
must be easy to handle this...
-
hopelijk ook onderdelen voor UMO? PTFE en nozzles? Ook heb ik een printer met een beschadigd zwart feeder wieltje...
-
and now clicking on a picture shows the wrong one.

clicking on a picture puts them smaller and clipped in the right bottom corner.

did you feed the filament by hand or turning the wheel on the back?
can you try to push the filament through by hand without locking the feeder on the back?
Can you check the little black wheel in the locking part on the feeder? If it is turning freely and has no damage?
-
or print a plunger: http://www.3ders.org/articles/20150727-maker-creates-smallest-3d-printed-plunger-from-ninjaflex-and-wood-filament.html
changing the size would be necessary...
-
did you try this with blue tape? It works with PLA, I have not tried ABS though...
-
a clean surface might help, yours looks 'scarred' from previous prints. Either totally clean or with diluted and dryed glue. When the rippling starts, gently push the platform up or down to see what the effect is before turning the screws. Slowing down will help also until it recovers you can speed it up again. Most of the time it is a leveling issue and when it starts it is going on repeating the pattern. Break the pattern by adjusting the height up or down.

This is not true, they use a prime tower when changing filaments, to get rid of the extra internal filament. I have seen them print with double colors and with pva.
Is pva a ployvinyl...acetate?
polyvinyl alcohol…
-
Note that the builder3d-printers only use this to mix fillaments in a gradient. Quite different from dual material.

the version 15.06 also gave an error, as this one, on a mac. Is there something else to do?
-
things to watch for:
are all the wires good, all connections, especially on the printhead. The two going into the little green block, and the white connectors.
The blue light must be steady when fiddling around, if this one is flickering, that is bad.
-
Nice!
take good care of her <3
-
also check if your electronics fan on the bottom is working. When this one dies, it is making skips also. Especially in the first/second layer.
My machine is from Feb. 2012 also, and had a loose wire on the fan lately...

tick the white box behind the support setting and you will get the expert settings for this. There you can increase the % of support (and the angle for when support is generated..) This way the lines can be closer with smaller gaps. You can also rotate your model to change the orientation of the support (support is always generated in the same direction).
