  1. Hi Owen, I'm a little colorblind, but even reading is becoming a problem I'm afraid... What do I miss here? My settings looks the same on OSX, Win7 (Bootcamp) and Win8...
  2. Who can tell me how to put a signature in my profile? Tnxx
  3. Haha, Guys!! it's almost impossible to fantasize without leaving reality :ugeek: What you want is something Renishaw (and others of course) is specialized in. Take a look in complexity and imagine how to implement a taster which costs you more than a few new Ultimakers. It isn't impossible. You'll drive Daid crazy:-) However, if you take a look at this point, they almost make use of the same code.....
  4. +1 for the topicstarter. And in spite of the lack of many negative reactions: Hear Hear :-D My vacation didn't went where it supposed to be but gave me the opportunity of playing around with the Ulti and I just received a box of new parts to upgrade her to a double headed version. (and only one week left, so who's complaining? ;-) So Daid, Happy Holidays and enjoy the sun and all the smiling faces from the people around you and in this community.
  5. @Illuminarti: OSX 10.8.4 Safari Version 6.0.5 (8536.30.1) Having said that, I looked into my updater and an update for Java is available. That might be the solution:-) Thanks
  6. @a moderator: Sometimes after editing my txt, the normally hidden signs and text like [Enters] and marks are visible. Is there something I can do about it, except for deleting al that stuff manually?
  7. I'm running Imacs at home and one is dedicated to 3D programs with Bootcamp. When I installed an official Windows 8 distribution, I got the same problems like you mentioned. But even SolidWorks Professional couldn't install properly, so I "downgraded" to Windows 7 Pro. One stop installation : Win7, Solidworks Pro, 123D design, 123D Catch and -make, Cura including the last version 13.06.02, Kisslicer, and DraftSight. A few weeks ago I build my Ultimaker at Protospace and that same weekend I got an offer for an Acer laptop with Windows 8. Same installation problems with SW. That bothered me, because there are very few people installing these kind of programs on a cheap laptop with Win 8, no proper solutions on the internet:-) This laptop is only to be used with the Ulti, my win7 already installed on 3 computers, so I decided to try Win8 and find out what was happening. I kicked out everything I didn't need for the printer. Only disabeling keeps resources down, so de-installing is the only way. No office, no win explorer (chrome, but only for quick downloads) No automatic wifi, BT, all the programs using automatic wifi traffic, no preinstalled backup and restore actions, no virusscanners and malware programs. I only accept automatic checks from SW for my license and 123D design to download modules. Upgrading only allowing by hand. She works clean and fast like a whistle, I just have 4Gb internal memory, 2,4 Gb free while using windows only. From here on I installed all the items again. The most problems came back after I installed AVG antivirus, ( Cura 13.6.2 goes bananas), the same with Kaspersky (somebody else had the same problem with Kaspersky) 123D design seems to work fine, but exporting the STL file goes 1:3 wrong. And most of the time you'll discover it to late. (using the old file or something like that) Disabling automatic updates, virusscans, the weather report and news flashes on your win8 desktop seems to solve the problem. Avast gives none of the hickups. I do not have an OpenGl video card on the Imac or the Acer. My computer at work does, but I think the huge amount of videomemory and the OpenGlcard does the trick, however, 2 of our Win8 pc's are downgraded to Win7Pro too, due to unacceptable behaviour. Imho Win8 is the troublemaker, drivers and OS, but it's too dangerous and inconveniant to work with such a minimum of protection and comfort like automatic stuff your computer normally does. 8. @Daid: At first: tnxx for the effort:-) - superfast slicing! - Infill on top of small objects is almost perfect and if it stays this way, fine with me. I tried several smal words with almost no infill and they close neatly in the last layer. - Turning an object around and laying it down flat is much faster. - Putting several objects all together on the platform without the different windows is just the way it has to be. - more possibilities and a far better way to fill in. but: - Brim looks beautiful, but then starts with the support on the next level, leaving a gap between support and platform if there's no brim available. - Tried to make e supershape, brim seems to fall apart by not attaching to the board from the beginning. (new blue tape, cleaned with alcohol) - If slicing the same object twice, a window about saving the same objectname dissapears behind Cura. The old version saved without asking to replace, this one doesn't save without confirmation. But you'll see it only when closing Cura. - I'm missing The Joris-thing. Is it still possible? - Support is now crossing over in stead of lining only, can I disable this? It seems there's no choice for different shapes of support or infill anymore? Is it possible to keep two different versions of Cura at the same time? It seems they work together, but do I have to take precautions? Is there something else I can try to do for you? 9. I really got hooked to the moving arm and hand from the InMoove robot, last weekend at the Protospace event. I downloaded several pieces yet, but I wanted my new (2 weeks:-) Ultimaker producing a piece for approx 24 hours, high resolution, just to see if I could leave her unattended for such a heavy job. It's nice to do that with an attractive model and there she was... http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:93858 You can find details about my settings in the comment I left for the artist. Still 9 hours to go....Pics will follow:-)
  10. Wow, ok, that will hardly be the result of an EMC problem. Imho one should never try to manage cnc machines by a pc/mac, especially not in case of not using earthed wall mounts. Ik Holland we use a phrase like: Asking for trouble...:-D And don't misunderstand me, it will work for many times, days or even years, but in case of malfunction, you'll never know the excact cause. After getting the advice about the combination of a pc/mac and an Ultimaker, I bought the Ulticontroller to avoid this. Anyway, you already succeeded to work around the problem. Did you manage to print the rest of it?
  11. The pictures I took are total crap. Iphone4 in a yellow-green and orange tent is no success. But there where 2 professional cams in the building, I hope the owners will publish them soon;-) I've a small video from the arm moving on a Arduino Uno board. That piece off equipment will be mine also in the next future, just for fun. I'll try to publish it. And we did manage to set the record with 55 Ultimakers (and one foreigner I think...) assembly will be the goal in the near future I guess.
  12. Haha, I'm not looking for another job, just trying to help you out, if I can. After all, this seems to be a community:-D Let me guess: direct costs for one wheel: - 5 Eurocents/gram PLA = Euro 2,60 for the plastic pro wheel. - Average printing time / gram = 1,7minutes > 52 x 1,7=88 minutes - power consumption 120 Watt x 5280 sec = 633.600 Joules / 3.600.000 = 0,176 kWh x Euro 0,23 = Euro 0,041 pro wheel:-) - Processing time 6 x 88min = 8,8 hours labor for the yellow one. Takes a little bit poking around changing, testing and leveling, so say 9 - 10 hours. That's approx. 16 Euro's whit out making any profit from it. That is to say: my parameters for such a project would be: wall thickness 1.6mm bottom and top 1,6mm fill density 100% With these I sliced some project with Cura and used the outcome for the 52 grams you came with. I guess package posting anywhere in Belgium is about 12 euros. Economically? I don't know, environmentally? I should say Yes, but the whole idea of promoting the Ultimakers is to send the file for nothing and get the print locally...so that would even be better. One of the guys at my personal masterclass lives in Belgium, maybe it is your neighbor?-) Second option is to print one negative mould for half a wheel. You spray wax, oil or any other loosing fluid inside the mold and put black 2K poly or even better, 2K epoxy resin with some sort of reinforcing material inside the mold. You'll need 12 pieces, glue them together with the same resin, and voila! Every time it brakes again, you can reuse the mold, and being carefully you can repeat this dozens of times. And just paying anything from 1 euro pro wheel.
  13. Dear Bill. it is very sad, your Ulti isn't working yet. And it is very unfortunate there are so many defects in one machine. I've never met someone with that amount of bad luck. Sorry for that. I hope your problems will be solved asap. If not, I would be happy to buy the machine from you, given you the opportunity to buy another fine 3D printer from another factory if you weren't so far away as you do. Maybe this one isn't just for you in this life. So my advise would be: try to find a nice guy or woman for that matter, who is willing to buy your troubles and look for a model that suites you fine, no mess or troubles like these. I was lucky to build mine without any problems from the Ultimaker at all. The things that broke or didn't catch up immediately where just because of not reading TFM properly. The first big run stopped after 3.5 hours because I didn't double-check all the screws. But I was able to manage the problem and within 45 minutes, she was up and running. It is bad luck, you guys in the US don't have the excellent opportunity like we Dutchies have: an excellent workshop to build your own in 2,5 days, learn how to manage problems and keep the software doing what you want it to do and not the other way around. I would be very happy if you are happy, I don't know the bad lying Dutch people you're talking about, but I also don't know a professional company that gives me that amount of credit if breaking so many parts as you do/did. Please consider being and staying a nice person, we will try also. Ultimaker is a young company and their employees are a very very hard working, nice bunch of people who'll do anything to please their customers, so please be patient. I'm just a customer, just like you, and my Ulti was just like the other 54 ones happy to produce the InMoove robot parts last saturday. I've never met so many happy and satisfied owners of a product, build by theirselves, happily accepting the out of date manual, because that ment, your machine was already upgraded to a higher plan. Did you uploaded the outdated data digitally, so UM is able to collect all of these input to be able to update the manuals asap?-) And please, a phrase as: is completely out of order as far as I'm concerned. Thank you for reading my comment and best of luck. Boy PS if anything I wrote is not clear or offending, please feel free to ask, because that is not on purpose and I'm not a native English speaker.
  14. That's interesting. Could you provide me some more details? Did you use an earthed wall mount? How much power does your cam consume? (aprox) what was the distance from your cam up to the first stepper in de neighborhood? Could you try that again? And it isn't necessary to wait that long:-D We measured just a little disturbance, barely enough to measure, so stopping the engine is bad news, but I assume it can be solved.
  15. Actually it became a number of 55 printing machines. I surely hope the two profi fotoshooters had better luck with the light in the big tent, because my Iphone pics realy s.......
  16. How many ulti's already?? Clock is ticking:-)
