  1. Thanks Geert_2. I guess I could see this working OK. It doesn't have to be air tight by any means so can give it a try.
  2. Couple things I would look at: I had this happen once and the reason was I accidentally had a .25 nozzle selected in Cura and was actually running a .4 nozzle. Another thing might be that your brim looks awfully close to the build plate? Might want to back your bed screws off just a LITTLE and see if it prints better. Maybe it created too much back pressure while printing the brim and first layer that it created problems for the subsequent layers? Just my thoughts.
  3. I tried some Ultimaker CPE Light grey with Cura's settings for this material only to get the results shown below. I did mess with the speed a little as well as dropped the temp 10 degrees in one of my many failed attempts. I thought rather than just waste more material by trying yet again, I would ask here if anyone has gotten any good results from printing Ultimaker CPE on an Ultimaker machine using factory Cura settings? (I thought that was the whole reason for buying the more expensive material, so it all worked together......) Basics: Ultimaker 2 Extended + Cura 4.5 Brass .4 nozzle Layer height .3 Infill 20 Material temp 240 (adjusted at one point, no change) Speed 60 (adjusted at one point, no change) retraction on Cooling on at layer 8 @ 50% Bed temp 70
  4. Here is an image of one of my G- codes. It appears as though it might be having one too many retracts??? Is there a way to fix this????
  5. I don't know how or why this is happening now, but when I start a new program, the material will print my skirt, seemingly just fine. But when it goes to print the part, it has not recalled the retracted material and takes for ever to get the plastic to flow from the nozzle again. If I go to the back of the machine and release the pressure on the feeder gears and push the material forward by hand, it seems like there is a lot of material I am pushing forward. And then it prints fine. I believe I have not messed with my retraction settings, but even if I have, wouldn't the machine know enough to make up for whatever retraction it is doing? (i.e. if it retracts 1mm it will return 1mm to print and if it retracts 2mm it will return 2mm to print, etc.) If I hold my hand on the filament, when it gets done purging, I can feel how much it retracts by holding tightly onto the filament and allowing my hand to move backwards with the retraction. When it moves into position to start the print and calls the material back in, it calls in a very small amount (like maybe 1/4 of what it retracted) and I have to release the feeder to manually shove the filament forward to start printing. It is an Ultimaker 2 Extended Plus. Cura 4.5 Retraction settings in image.
  6. I'm thinking of making a dry box for my Ultimaker 2 Extended+ I have seen several designs that use a PTFE tube coming from the box to the feeder of the machine. I was wondering how the PTFE tube is being attached to the back of the feeders? Mine have a small metal insert in them and I don't see any way to connect the tubes? I am ordering supplies and would like to order everything at once. Thanks, - Jason
  7. Nobody knows how to use these config files? Just double checking before I go straight to Ultimaker for support.
  8. Thanks for the attempt Tinkergnome. I will try to explain better in case someone else can chime in... Cura 3.2.1 has a folder inside it called "resources" Inside that they have a folder called "quality" The Mark 2 updates have nothing to do with this folder. They only use : Definitions Extruders images scripts variants So that leads me to believe the folder "Quality" is there for everyone. Inside this folder are many different folders, along with a small handful of .cfg files not in a folder. Each folder contains many different .cfg files. One of the folders is called "Ultimaker 2_mark2" I did not put this folder there, and do not know where it would have come from if not everyone has it? Even if everyone else only has the OTHER folders, my question remains the same.... How do you implement these .cfg files? I hope this clears things up. Sorry for any confusion. Thanks, - Jason
  9. Here are a couple of images to show where they are on my Windows Explorer...
  10. Thanks! I was wondering if it was only for Mark2 because I believe that folder is there before the Mark2 upgrade stuff? (I didn't put it there.) It also has other Ultimaker .cfg files/folders as well.
  11. I finally got my computer and running with a new hard drive and am excited to get back to printing. Newest version of Cura is installed and running. (3.2.1) I am also running the Mark 2 upgrade. I see in the "Resources" folder there is another folder called "quality". Inside that folder there are many Mark2 files that end in .cfg How does one go about using these files? I would like to start using PVA and saw that it looked like these were printing profiles that would possibly have good starting parameters for me to use, but I have no way of knowing how to utilize them? I checked all the "import" options inside Cura and non ask for a .cfg file and so when I try to import them anywhere it says wrong file type. Thanks, - Jason
  12. Found it. copied it into the Cura folder directly. Still same result. Should it go into a specific folder inside Cura as well? I just put it into the main folder.

  14. QTJava is the only one in there that has a QT in the beginning.
  15. Thanks tinkergnome. I know you guys are all trying to help. And it is greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, I don't know what this means or how to do it. I am currently trying to work on ahoeben's advice for creating a virtual machine to run Linux inside of. I will report back when I get results but it won't be until tomorrow, or more likely the next day.
  16. I have considered re-installing Windows, but with everything I have on here that I need for work, (This is my sole source of bread winning) it scares me to think what would happen if I miss anything or anything gets messed up. So I can't wipe Windows off or my other programs wont run. And I don't think running a "virtual" machine is quite up my alley in terms of what I probably need to know to get it done right. I don't have any spare hard disks to mess with. I have also been considering installing a solid state hard drive as an upgrade, but have heard that whatever issues I have on the current hard drive will "follow through" to the new one when I do a "clone" to the new drive.
  17. This might sound silly but....... What's Linux? I thought that was only for macs? Or am I thinking of something else?
  18. Thanks again Ahoeben. I've tried replacing and updating everything I can think of, and must just have something still not updated or like you said, messed up. I thought it was an odd coincidence it relates directly to when Ultimaker stopped supporting 32 bits, even though my system is a 64 bit system. Are there any other free slicing software that supports the Mark 2 upgrade? Or am I just stuck until I can purchase a new computer in a year or two? Or do I just sell my printer? Drastic measure for sure, but what good does it do me just sitting there?
  19. Thanks for the response Ahoeben. Any thoughts to the relation of Cura not working after that decision? Was there something left out, thinking it was only for 32 bit, that should have been left in that would make it stop working on certain systems? I know I'm reaching here, but something happened. Just trying to figure out what.
  20. Just tried 3.2 Beta.......... Same results. No loading the program. I have absolutely everything else running great on my computer but Cura. Just can't understand it. And why can I run all the older versions but none of the newer? It HAS to be something to do with what they changed in Cura. I can get my older computer out and try that, but I can't find a 32 bit application for the Cura programs past 2.3.1? Can anyone tell me where those are? Or did they stop making 32 bit an option after that? And isn't it a coincidence that the last version offered as a 32 bit as well as a 64 bit just happens to be the last version in 64 bit to work on my computer? There HAS to be something connecting that to my problem. Cura developers..... Any thoughts?
  21. Ghostkeeper, Thank you for the suggestion. I went ahead and tried that, but, alas, no success.
  22. Thanks Msuurmond. Yes, I tried ALL of those steps already. (most of them several times)
