  1. OK I tried it. Manually changed the extruder to extruder 2. Wrote out my program using Ultimaker 2 Extended + profile. (mine shows G-code flavor as Ulitmaker 2 not Marlin) didn't work. Then changed my G-code flavor to Marlin and it DID work, albeit it ran my carriage into the front left corner of my machine causing my belt to skip a few cogs.

  3. So how would my machine know to run the second feeder if I want to run the second head ONLY?? As I stated prior, the Standard UM2+ only knows there is 1 head and 1 feeder. At least that's how I understand it. (which might not be saying much lol)
  4. Thanks Tinkergnome. I will look for this. As for my previous post about it putting the head away..... Sorry for the confusion, it appears that I somehow had extra "stuff" in the start script that I copied in. (or added to) It now does not put the head away and does start as expected. So the new start script WILL work with this scenario. My next question would be, Do I need to disable this script for "regular" 2 nozzle programs? thanks
  5. loading Head 2 prior to start the print Why would this work? After copying that code in, one of the first thing the machine does is put head two away?
  6. Well, I don't know how to disable an extruder in Cura. ?? (Why would I need to? I just tell Cura to use extruder 2 for brim AND part printing) Using UM2+ setup instead of Mark2 will not run my second feeder? How will this then feed the second head? I'm confused....
  7. Whom - Thanks for the input. At least this shows it's something others are also struggling with. (or at least did at one time until a "solution" was found) I agree, I found that any printing (i.e. brim, skirt, etc.) done with the first head would indeed allow the second head to print as wanted. But you ALWAYS had to utilize the first head first. I was originally thinking only skirt or brim would work to allow some "pre-printing" but your suggestion of even a little tiny separate part might be the trick for now.
  8. That worked to be able to see it and apply the code that Navigator supplied. Thank you! However, it still puts head 2 away and prints with head 1? I have it printing with ONLY head 1 in the program. Not only that, my standby temp is being ignored and my material is being kept at printing temp in nozzle 2 while it prints (at printing temp) with nozzle 1. ???

Navigator - So, I'm in Cura Preferences and I select my printer "Mark2 for Ultimaker" I then choose "Machine settings" Inside here I can see: Printer Extruder 1 Extruder 2 Under "Printer" I can see at the bottom it sais "Start G-code on one side and "End G-code" on the other. Nothing is under any of it and there is no way to click on it to put anything under it. So that begs the question, "Where do I add the info?" So then I select the "Extruder 1" option. It Appears as though I can add start and end codes here. Great! I copy in the start code you provided. It doesn't ask to save anything so I assume it saves it and then I have to change some setting in Cura so that it asks me to re-slice the project. (otherwise there is no way to re-slice it) I then look at the G-code and there is no change. ? So I save the project and re-start Cura thinking it needs a re-start after changing this. ..........Still no difference. So, with everything I've done, what am I doing wrong?   10. Annnnnnd now my magnets aren't strong enough to hold the heads together anymore. (sigh) The slightest move towards the back of the machine and the heads separate from the "pressure" of the bowden tube. Worked fine for a while. Not no more. dfrez - Would you be willing to share where you got your "stronger" magnets from? Thanks, struggle struggle struggle
  11. I have confirmed this to be true. No matter what you do it will NOT print with just the second head while using the standard Mark2 info. The only way I could get it to work was to allow it to print the skirt or brim with the first head and then and only then will it print the entire rest of the part with the second head. If you know how to change your start and stop scripts, apparently there is a fix that Navigator has provided. I have not been able to confirm this as working for me yet as I have to now search about how to change start and stop scripts when I am using a different G-code flavor. Struggle struggle struggle. Nothing but struggle at every turn.
  12. So I have an Ultimaker 2 Extended Plus with the Mark2 conversion. So I have dual extruders. In the new Cura 4.5.0, I am in the "Prepare" screen and have my "Mark2 for Ultimaker2" selection chosen as my printer. In my material choices, I can NOT find PVA anywhere. When I go to "Add more materials from Marketplace" to try and add it it sais Ultimaker PVA is already installed? Is it because I do not have an Ultimaker 3 or better chosen as my printer that it will not allow me to have PVA in my list of available materials? And if so, How can I change this, as we all know the Mark2 can print with it? I didn't know if this should go in the Materials section or the Add on section so I just picked one. Hopefully it's the right one. ; ) Thank you, - Jason
  13. Added my company. With almost 18 years CAD experience and 15 years of product design experience, I hope I can be of assistance. I do have and Ultimaker 2 Extended + with Mark2 but I'm no expert at it.
  14. Gr5 = Yes, it seems to maybe have been an issue with the Mark2 stuff. I have printed this part and another quite well now. No popping or sizzling at all. I have heard it just a bit from my PVA so I know what you mean. "Only done a 100 or so prints with CPE" LOL Only. LOL 🙃 I have old PLA as well and it is so stiff and brittle I wondered if running it through the dehydrator would help? MechDesigner = Thanks for the feedback. I do use skirt when I have a large flat bottom already printing on the bed and not that tall of a part. Just something to verify the flatness and purge the nozzle a little more. But definitely a brim for the skinnier and taller stuff. (like I'm doing now) I'm trying to perfect the .4mm nozzle technique because I have a couple of Everlast Jeweled nozzles I would like to use. For now the problem looks like it has subsided mostly. I printed out a temp test tower and found 260 to be my best temp. That and updating Cura to the proper Mark2 info I think got me going in the right direction. Pictures are reversed because I cant figure out why it won't let me put them in MY order and not the order IT wants.......

It's been winter here for several months and my office is in my very dry basement. That being said, my filament (CPE and PLA) does sit out. So it COULD have absorbed some moisture? I also found some issues that Tinkergnome helped me with. When I went to Cura 4.5 I used my old files for the Mark2 upgrade. This created some bad moves in the program at the beginning, and who knows, maybe elsewhere also? He showed me there was already a custom Foehnsturm Mark2 printer in the selection for printers, so I selected that and made those problems go away. (so far) I tried a new print last night with the standard Ultimaker 2+ (non Mark2) settings and got it to print mostly decent for about 75% of it. I woke up this morning to a print that was about 75% done, the printer bed down, and the print head back in the corner like it finished the print. But the part was stuck to the nozzle and I had a Temp Sensor Bed Error. Found a loose wire on the bed, fixed it, and were back at it.

  17. OK maybe I didn't figure it out................ (sigh) I changed the infill to grid and this is what it looks like now.......... Guess I'll keep trying stuff.

  19. This works better! it no longer has the extra retract and my material is right there ready to print. BUT...... After it purges the nozzle it moves off to the left and down onto the build plate and drags across right through the purged material and then drags that to the where it starts the print. Where did this extra move come from?? It worked great before, just stopping the purge and then moving to the print. Not sure how to edit this out of there? Thanks

  21. Found an issue...... (Probably THE issue) My concentric infill pattern is not touching its previous layer plastic. Is this a normal phenomenon with this type of infill? I don't remember it happening before. This helped eliminate a ton of small infill moves with smooth swooping patterns instead of jagged tiny little moves that made the printer sound like it was vibrating to the moon. Any suggestions as to how to get the concentric pattern to work correctly??
  22. Looks good to me. Layer 4 is duplicated through layer 13 so I didn't bother with any further images.
  23. Well, I designed the part and it SHOULD be an excellent solid model, water tight. It's simple geometry and created well. That being said, I will take a closer look as you mention and let you know what I find. I will also look into this plug in, but I have never had a bad model. (As far as I know anyway) Thanks
