Total friction. You won't need numbers if you try it out - the difference is immediately obvious if you disengage the feeder drive cog and slide the filament into the tubing - much less friction.

We don't often release an alpha version of Ultimaker Cura... So what's different this time? This Alpha contains such a huge slicing engine overhaul that we really need your help!
We wish to celebrate and honor the innovators that push forward the field, technology and world. We opted to not present it as a competition or ranked list. Every innovator has earned his spot on that list in their own way. We also look at the 3D printing industry as a whole and not limit the list to those only using Ultimaker.

My guess would be higher friction in the bowden due to the more extreme curve on that position. It's basically why I made this;

though this should probably not be necessary with a good feeder....

Nevertheless, using a PTFE Bowden tube 8-12" longer than OEM will reduce friction considerably.
Here's the stuff you want: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KJDE67G Also comes in 10" length.

Some measured numbers for this reduced friction would be interesting. Are you referring to total friction or friction per length?
