Hi folks.

I have noticed that my printer often does this strange thing where it "vibrates" around the inner wall. this is more time consuming that simply tracing around the edge as i would expect it to do. ive taken a look at the slices and think that the images reveal why its doing it.

the first one has a nice clean inner trace and the second one is all mudded up. does anyone know why this is happening?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Dan

    Hi,

Please give us the profile you use by saving it in ".ini." file.

Then, we would be able to open it and check it out !

hi this is the copied text from the .ini file. is this what you require?

    thanks.

ps. i noticed that the inner line clears up when i revert back to a single instance of the model(the screen shot was taken when there were two copies )

whether this will translate onto the print ive yet to find out but whatever the result its strange....

I believe this is caused by the top/bottom thickness. If you set it to 0, you will notice this goes away. (but obviously that's not really an option unless you want an open top, but try to slice it with that setting to 0 to see if it's what's affecting it).

There is a reason for this though, it places material under the next layer's inner perimeter. While annoying, it serves quite an important function IMO. On larger details it will be lines which makes sense, but if you have a gradually sloping side, it will appear to 'vibrate' because the lines are small.

Anywho, that's what I think it is, and if your object looks good it's working as intended. :D

*edit, I just had another thought after I posted... It could also be that your object has way too many polygons.

    I am using ABS yes.

valcrow - I tried on your suggestion to turn off the top/ bottom thickness but this did not help. I have also tried reducing the polygon count to see if that helps. It didn't. Ive included a screenshot of my object in wireframe mode. The troublesome areas seem to be the fingers which seem to have a cleaner mesh but they are square polygons. could this be the problem?

    Also included more cura screenshots.

    Thanks.

I still have this issue in 4.8. Inner walls are not continuous curves. This was supposedly fixed in 4.8 but still persists, even with default profiles. The problem is visible in the g-code, so it is not the fault of the printer. Printer jitters around the inner walls, causing vibration and print defects.

If you can - post an  STL / 3mf file.  I've never seen those jittery moves before and I don't think it's any Cura settings that do that.  Cura may be confused over something in the model.
