Extruder Pressure on UMO

I am having trouble with my extruder tension I don't know if its to tight or too loose, but I suspect it is too loose because it's not pushing out the extruder and backing up at the extruder gear (see pic).

Anyone have a link for how to tension it correctly? i.e. a better one than the Assembly guide stating a specific length on the adjustment screw.

it is best to look at the pattern that the knurled bolt is making in your filament: the marks should be not to light, not to deep to transform the filament completely. If the filament is not moving towards the nozzle the problem might be more towards the printhead (ptfe, bowden, nozzle issues). Of coarse the connection of the bowden into your extruder must be tight, inspect if the clips with the metal teeth are OK.

The feeder should be able to lift about 5kg of weight so that's one way to test it. In general tighter is better as long as you don't turn the circular filament into an ellipse that gets stuck somewhere (head or bowden).

Filament on the left needs more pressure. Filament on the right is possibly a little too much.
