Clogged Hotend UM2+

Hi there, I‘ve purchased recently a new Ultimaker 2+ and tried to print a big part over night. Next morning my nozzle and the entire hotend was clogged by filament. It seamed that the part lost its adhesion to the print bed and then the filament was collected at the nozzle until it was clogged.

Do you have any idea how to unleash the hotend espacially the wires from the filament?

Heat block to 180C. Get a heat gun and blow on that blob and be very patient. Remove bits at a time. Use tools like toothpicks or popsicle sticks or a screwdriver or pliers. And be patient. it takes a long time.

If you dont' have a hot air gun and if this is PLA then a hair dryer will probably also work.

You might be lucky and be able to heat the block to 180C and walk away and come back after 30 minutes.

Thank you. And all those parts around the hotend resist the temperature of 180 degrees? (ventilator, wires etc).

With the hot gun it is difficult to focuse on a particular area.

Yes. The red/black wires can handle 200C (typical soldering temperatures).

The white wires can handle >400C.

The metals can handle > 600C.

The white teflon part can handle up to 250C

The black plastic fans can handle only up to about 100C so push those out of the way
