A look at adaptive layers

Adaptive layer is great, but the basic settings for it may not be adapted to your part. You might need to play with them to find out what works best with one specific part.

 

Also, @Lez0, did adaptive layers really amde a difference in terms of printing time for this specific object?

I used adaptive layers as at times it cut the print time by quite a bit, on one part it went from 16 1/2 hours to 14 hrs 11mins.

You are being helpful! It would be nice to figure out the source of the difference so it can be fixed. Can you save your project and post it?

I have attached the .3mf file.

This was done in Cura 3.2.1, I don't use 3.3.1 as there is a problem with it. I found the print times were longer in this version. I believe the bug has been fixed.

Print time for this is shown as 6:11, without adaptive layers turned on, 7:22.

The object itself came in as invalidly defined when opened in another program.

 

Unrelated, I think, the settings for your print didn;t come across - did you save the object, or a project (project will end in ".curaproject.3mf").

 

I'm wondering if your variable settings just ended up with the layers so tall they didn't print well. You can post a pic like this:

 

You can see I have layers up to 0.3mm, perhaps yours is larger?

Sorry I think I just saved it as .3mf file.

Thanks for showing me the layer thickness, I didn't know it was there, yellow is 0.35mm, no wonder it didn't print very well.
