Issues in Localized Version of Cura

There are two issues in the german localized version of Cura:

1. Print job information with print time and material cost is truncated in the german version. So it is not usable!
2. In the german localized version of Cura the application menu is defect: The menu items „About…“, „Preferences“ and „Services“ are missing.

As a workaround for the first issue, the print information labels have a tooltip.

The developers can use „h“ for hour and „min“ for minutes. It is common in Germany too.

 Yes, but only with the the values of the different types of lines, not with the value of the whole part. This is not really a workaround.

A workaround is to use the englisch version.

No, there are no totals (see screenshot).

 

But it is possible to switch to „Speichern in Datei“ (save to file) instead of „Speichern auf Wechseldatenträger“.

The developers should replace „Wechseldatenträger“ with „SD-Card“, it’s a lot shorter! ;-)

Problem is the OS does not tell Cura if it is an SD-card, or a usb stick, or even a usb harddisk

For the UM3 it needs to be a USB stick, as it doesn't even have a card reader.

Maybe, but this is not the subject of this thread. ;-) And it seems to be incorrect too: Cura for Mac is able to identify the kind of volume.

I am not using the UM3, so this does not matter (and it is not the problem discussed here.)

 

The subject is an UI issue in the localization of Cura.

You suggested the developers should (ie: have to) change a string to something else. I told you why they won't; Cura uses a generic term because it would be inaccurate otherwise.

Also the developers don't translate the application; a 3rd party translation service does.

Ah, okay.

But a developer can exchange the strings. If the OS sends „Wechseldatenträger“ to Cura, the application can replace it with an other word.

And when the people, who localize the app, would using „h“ instead of „Stunden“ it would solve the problem too (see screenshot).
