Leapfrog Bolt Pro and Cura 15 will it work?

Recommended Posts

Posted · Leapfrog Bolt Pro and Cura 15 will it work?

We recently (last week) received our leapfrog Bolt Pro. Not being familiar with simplify3D and it's requirement of being on line to use has stopped us dead in our tracks I was hoping to use Cura in the meantime until the internet issue is resolved. I have noticed several post about Cura and the leapfrog creator but nothing as far as the Bolt Pro and Cura.

Has anyone attempted this, will it work, if yes what settings.  We are very frustrated as the online requirement was never mentioned and our company does not like setting up new profiles.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Can Cura be made to work with the leapfrog Bolt Pro? Highly likely. Will it work with it out of the box and let you use all its features? Probably not.

Note that Cura 15.04 is ~3 years old, and has fairly rudimentary support for multi-extrusion. Cura 3.2.1 is the current version, and has much more elaborate support for multi-extrusion.

Our Bolt system also came with Simplify3D as it is the standard for bolt unit. Cura most likely can handle the specs but I couldn't find any information on how to set up the unit for IDEX configuration in Cura. Although, BCN3D Sigma IDEX printers are similar to Bolt and they have a profile for Cura. You might be able to tweak their settings and use it for the Bolt.

Note that Sigma created their own version of Cura to support IDEX features, and that not all of those features are available in Ultimaker Cura
