32 bit system

I would almost certainly pick Cura 15.X (the 15 refers to 2015) before trying version 2.3 again.  Cura 15.X was fantastic and had very few bugs - my memory isn't great but for a while the "new" cura which I think started at version 2.0 was pretty bad. for over a year.  I think 2016 wasn't a good year for cura (cura 2.3 came out in 2016 I think).  I would go at least to 2017 or 2018 before Cura was really excellent once again with very few bugs and plenty of fantastic features for today's printing needs.  Of course many features have been added since 2018 - many of which are only used by UltiMaker printers but you can go through the changelog and see all the many hundreds of bugfixes and features (probably 98% don't affect non-UltiMkaer printers but the 2% that do might be important to you).

By the way, some people probably thought the discussion about what version of cura to use had something to do with the topic which is "32 bit system".  But the recent posts have nothing to do with a 32 bit system (right?).  So I'm not surprised people got a little confused.

Cura switched to 64 bit only and some people are still sad about that.

you specified the requirements for installing Cura.

but you didn't say anything about the system - what should it be?

yes, you said that the system should preferably be 64 bit.

    I have Windows XP 64 bit sp2.

will Cura install, and what version?

on the one hand, it's 64 bit, but on the other, it's Windows XP (!).

I don't know.  It's not mentioned in the official requirements.  But it definitely does mention openGL 4.1 so now I guess you either have to just try it or check to see if you can get openGL 4.1 for xp.  I thought you said you had win7?  Are there 2 people asking about compatibility in the last few days?

I think cura 15.X will probably work on xp (either 32 or 64 bit) but I don't know for sure.
