Inconsistent and slow extrusion

Recommended Posts

Posted · Inconsistent and slow extrusion

I’m printing with Hatchbox PLA, but that’s not the problem because this roll was woriking fine before. When I try to test extrude the filament it doesn’t extrude our as much as it should, it is slower than it should be, and it curls up to the nozzle. Added onto that, when it extrudes, half the time it makes a grinding noise and the extruded filament has inconsistent width.

The extruded filament-0F5C4289-FD53-4A08-A3C2-B12D56020059.thumb.jpeg.a8ebe452d2fcd9d451fb322f5c7ac5a5.jpeg

looks really low res here for some reason, but you get the idea.

The filament I unloaded after-FC96DD99-38CD-45A7-AF00-86ABB85D066D.thumb.jpeg.75c15eabba2ee8860d646a2c11221044.jpeg

Does anyone have any ideas what the problem is or how to fix it?

Probably a clogged nozzle, so try to clean it with hot/cold pulls.

Additionally check if your PTFE coupler, between the Bowden tube and the hotend, is ok. (depends on your printer)

Tried a cold pull and a hot pull, didn’t work. The Coupler is ok, I’ll take off the nozzle and try to clean it, thanks for the reply.
