Cura crashes when I try to save.

Posted · Cura crashes when I try to save.

I have been using Cura 3.6 on my HP laptop since November but have upgrade to 4.0 recently. Everything on that laptop still works fine however I purchased a new HP laptop and when I save the gcode it will start to save, then crashes Cura midway through the save with no log as to why.

    Most likely a memory issue where it can't handle your quantity of triangles in the STL file.  Do you know how many triangles there are?  100,000 triangles are enough for almost anything the printer can do but surely a million are plenty.  Sometimes models have many more.  Anyway you can see how many triangles(faces) there are using this technique and you can reduce the quantity without affecting the print much:
