Do you have the Material Settings plugin installed?
There is a bug in the current version of the Material Settings plugin that prevents creating new materials. I’ll try to release a fixed version soon.
- 2 weeks later...

There was an update for plugin Material Settings. Did you update your plugin already?

unfortunately I didn't had a good idea after reading you comment. Have you check your cura.log file if there is any problem showing up? With updating the plugin to version 3.5.3 I can create and modify new materials.
A little bit later: I just check the process again and I have maybe an idea what happen.
For me it looks like the behavior for creating had changed. In the past I could select an material like Generic PETG and push the create button and became immediately a new generic material. Now, when you push the create button, in first instance nothing will happen. But when you leaf the material dialog completely, select an other menu item in Preferences and then go back to Materials menu you will find a new PLA material under the entry "Custom".
@ahoeben, it looks like the material listing will not be updated after creating or duplicating a material by clicking the button. This seams to be a wrong behavior. I don't know if this is a problem with your plugin or a general problem in Cura 4.4.1. I think it is the last one, as this happen also with a deactivated materials plugin. Maybe you can check this too?
Best regards, DD

Но, "трудности перевода", никак не могу понять смысл сказанного вами после слов: "Generic PETG and push the create button and became immediately a new generic material."
Cura.
@Sanych, I can't help you if I can't read what your problem is.

Hello @ahoeben,
thanks for trying to help for the meantime. Sanych don't want to ignore you, he simply isn't able to follow the conversation. He use the Google translator and the results seems not to be understandable for him. He wrote in his language because of a machine translation for a machine translation makes understanding ever more worse. In this case it is ok for me, to go this route.
By the way, there seems to be an software problem in the materials menu, as I already mention in my last post. By preparing the screenshots I recognized, that I setup a price and wight for a generic material some when and I'm not able to reverse it. Setting price and wight to cero won't accepted.
Hello @Sanych,
sorry, I am really busy this weekend. I was not able to give you any answer yesterday. I can imagine that it is complicate for you to follow an english conversation, if you need to translate it via google translator. But it is better than having nothing and I use the same tools (ImTranslator) to follow what you wrote here. Let's see if I can do some explanations and screen shots for you now.
First of all, please make a new install of Cura. Please download the actual version 4.4.1. You are missing all material definitions that are part of the installation. I will do some screen shots in english as we need a base you can follow by switching between language in Cura 🙂
After you did your installation plead click in the menu bar to Preferences -> Configure Cura,
you will find in the new window the materials menu.
After you choose "Generic PLA" and click Create, you will see no change. There is no additional material created:
But, when you click on Profiles (or any other item on the right menu) like:
and then go back to the menu item Material, a miracle happen:
You will find a new entry Custom -> PLA -> Custom Custom Material. This new material can you now modify to your needs:
Keep in Mind: to see your modifications, you need again leaf the Material menu and go back once more.
If you have further question, please do not hesitate to ask. But it will need some time to answer as I am busy today too. Maybe an other user can jump in too if it took to long.

Dear @ahoeben.
I correctly understood that it is you who are engaged in mistakes in the Cura? If so, then this is what happens to me. If not, please tell me whom I should contact with my problem.
I uninstalled, cleaned, and reinstalled Cura 4.4.1. And, even after you kindly fixed the Materials plugin, I ran into the following problem.
I created two printers in the program. Ultimaker and Tevo Black Widow, which I use. When I activate Ultimaker printer, all materials are displayed normally and your plugin works. When I activate Tevo Black Widowt, all materials disappear, and the plugin stops working.
If you are not dealing with this problem, then maybe you will be so kind and forward my message to the correct destination?
I’m a community member like you. I contribute code to the Cura open source project and I write plugins for Cura. I try to help and fix problems where possible, but I have no obligation to do so.
Dear @ahoeben.
I never said that you owe me help. Moreover, I wrote to the community only because I hoped that someone knew the solution to my problem. I just switched from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and from Cura 3.6.0 to Cura 4.4.1 at the same time and thought that all these are Windows errors.
Sorry if you have the impression that I commit you to solve my problems.
But it seems to me that it would be right if someone said: "We know about your problem, but we are busy with other important problems." But it is possible that in this I am also wrong.
Sorry.
