Remote Cura connect access plans?

Posted · Remote Cura connect access plans?

Do you have any plans to update the Cura connect app to work outside of the local network of the printer?

It would be very handy to be able to access the printers from outside of the local network so you can check to make sure a print as is still fine and if you have had a fail to be able to cancel the print. Right now if you are outside of your local network and if a print fails you will return to a lot of wasted filament and a big mess, if you could check in you would be able to stop it sooner.

Also the app does not send alerts to warn you of a filament run out error, and it be handy if it did.

    Hi,

We currently have no plans to update the Connect app to work outside the local network.

However you can use mycloud.ultimaker.com, our remote management solution, on your phone's mobile browser. It's fully responsive and provides most features that Connect does locally. Other Connect features will soon be available on MyCloud as well. We're also investigating a more thorough notification system that includes most printer errors.

    Chris

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
