PEI Sheet for Ultimaker S3?

Recommended Posts

Posted · PEI Sheet for Ultimaker S3?

I just ordered an Ultimaker S3, I've been using a Taz6 and Prusa for a long time now and really like the PEI build surface. I'm not exactly sure how the bed leveling works (heated nozzle?) and if that would damage a PEI sheet, or if the sheet would interfere with the leveling process. Has anyone installed one on a S3 yet? Any other things I should be attentive to?

Thanks!

Active bed leveling will push the heated nozzle into build surface with a little bit large force. Due to various PEI thickness and hardness, it might not work well. But you can disable Active Bed Leveling and use Manual Bed Leveling. Manual bed leveling is still the very basic and important calibration technique.

I use PEI sheet from Build Tak and they work well with active levelling.

The standard build Tak works but the heated nozzle melts the surface during levelling leaving small craters
