How can I add my Tenlog D3 Pro printer profile to version 4.6.1

Hi membership,

I have a Tenlog D3 Pro dual extruder printer which came with Cura version 4.4.

This 4.4 version has my Tenlog printer shown as selection when adding a new printer.

Now that I downloaded version 4.6.1, I don't see Tenlog as a add on printer.

What mods must I do to add the Tenlog printer profile to the selection?

In version 4.4 there is a file named Tenlong_D3P.def.json which does not show in any of the 4..6.1 file folders.

I tried added this file to the resorces/definitions folder and the restarted Cura. However, the Tenlog printer did not show.

Thank you  all in advance.

There are at least the extruder definitions missing, take a look at the Cura wiki:

    https://github.com/Ultimaker/Cura/wiki/Definition-Files-Explained

Most probably there are a few version numbers that have to be updated as well. The log file (cura.log) will list those errors that prevent the definition to show up.

The location of the log file is explained in the readme file.

Thinkernome, Thank you for chiming in on my question. However, I should have mentioned that "I'm old" and not techy. So the links you kindly provided and the explanation and instructions, are way over my head!  I appreciate the effort. I'm still searching in such a way that a 6 year old can understand.

I also have a problem in adding a new printer (non-Ultimaker).

For now, I use Cura only for my UMO printer, but intend to invest in an affordable different one too.

When trying to add a new printer, only Ultimaker printers are in the list, but no possibiity is shown of adding a third party printer.

    What do I overlook?

I understand files should exist in the resources/definitions, extruders and meshes folders (Windows 10) and these are found there definitively. But how should I use those files in order to use Cura for these printers too?

You can scroll the list. There is a scrollbar, but it is of the type that hides itself when it is not used.

Aaaarrrghhh, I would NEVER have found this simple hidden feature without you!

Only by bringing the cursor to the very right hand side of the addition window the scrollbar pops up.

Thanks a lot for this help!

    Maartenw.,

So are no easy solution to my problem. I wish that in one or two easy steps, I can add Tenlog files to different folders and the Tenlog printer profile will show up.  No such luck.  But I am hopeful that some Cura guru will figure it out.

Maybe you should contact Tenlog for a possible upgrade for the (tenson),def, json files.

Or, maybe on a Tenson user forum (if it exists) you may have success.

On the Tenlog's website I still see the Cura 4.4 version only. So maybe it is wise at this time to uninstall Cura 4.6.1 and go back to the version supplied with your printer. Sad, but wise for the moment.

I got the latest version of Cura to work with my new Tenlog TL-3D Pro.

Here are the steps I used, maybe something simpler exists :

    • Remove any installed version of Cura, taking care of .cura or cura folders that may remain in c:\users\username or in the appdata folder
    • Install customized cura 4.4 version provided by Tenlog
    • From the cura installation folder, copy "everything tenlog" from the resources folder to a temp folder, that means :
      • From the definitions folder :
        • tenlog_printer.def.json
        • TL-D3Pro.def.json
        • TL-D3S.def.json
        • TL-D4Pro.def.json
        • TL-D5Pro.def.json
        • TL-D6Pro.def.json
      • From the extruders folder:
        • tl_dual_0.def.json
        • tl_dual_1.def.json
      • From the materials folder:
        • every ".fdm_material" file beginning with tl
      • From the meshes folder:
        • every stl file beginning with TL
    • Uninstall the cura 4.4 version (again, clean the remaining cura folders)
    • Install Cura 4.6.1 from Ultimaker site withou launching the program
    • Copy back every tenlog file to the corresponding folders in the new Cura 4.6.1 installation folder.
    • Launch the Cura 4.6.1 executable and choose the tenlog printer from the "Add a non-networked printer" list

    Hope this helps

Could you please share your tenlog config files. I have no tenlog config file, neither in version 4.4.1 of Cura and even less in the  4.6.1 version.

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
