Has anyone experienced crashing issues with either 4.6.2 or 4.7?
This started just a couple of days ago,  after using the slicer successfully for a few weeks. The opening screen loads up, reports that it is opening the UI, launches the main window, which just stays blank!
I reinstalled. Same thing. Uninstalled and removed all configuration files, then reinstalled. Worked 1st time round. Crashed shortly after creating and saving 1st slice. restarting program, UI hangs again.

Installed 4.7 beta. Same behaviour. Any tips anyone?

After much gnashing of teeth, I uninstalled again, and went searching in the user Appdata local and romaing folders and removed all traces of any Cura settings. This seems to have solved the issue for now.

    Hi. Thanks for the reply. Cura decided to hang again this morning. The log file seems to suggest that there is a timeout waiting to autodetect Baud rate. As I don't have my printer connected (an Ender Creality 3 Pro using OctoPrint on a networked Raspberry Pi 4), I guess that it will try and wait forever!

    Hello all I had to get on this forum because I could not get Cura 4.8 to run on Windows 10. I had to uninstall everything with Cura. Shut everything off for Windows firewall. Click on app and browser control. Scroll down to exploit protection. Click on exploit protection settings. Shut everything off by default. Restart your computer. Reinstall Cura 4.8. it's working for me fine. Hope that helps

    I'm also experiencing this lock up.

    I install, can run it the first time, then on subsequent loads it freezes up.  I also noticed if I leave it running a long time, then try to alter settings, it also freezes up.

    Not using Windows Firewall.

    I have installed the most recent directx and c++ runtime environments.

    If I delete cura.cfg and re-run, everything is fine.

    I have same issue with current version 4.8

    My solution is...

    I tried to delete cura.cfg over and over again then i found out that the only problem are listed below:

    remove all of this and you are good to go

    window_width = 1773
    window_left = 1663
    window_height = 1155
    window_top = 502
    accepted_user_agreement = False

    Hello everybody,

    I have changed my computer for newer one, just installed fresh Windows 10 home 21H1, and latest version of Ultimaker Cura, I am using two monitors and experiencing problem. When I start program first time all is going fine and as long as I am running program on primary monitor it works fine. But if I move it to second screen and close program, it will not start again - it freezes on loading application window. Reading this thread I did find that it is enough to delete window_left and window_top positions from cura.cfg file and it start again. what is going on? and how to fix it. Temporarily I created on my desktop to Cura.cfg so I can quickly open it and force it to start, but it is only work around.

    I discovered something else, program starts properly as long as the center of the window stays on main screen, just when it pass the edge program will not run.

    In the General preferences, disable the option to “Restore window position on start”.

    Thanks for response, I missed this option in config. Anyway I have to do deeper investigation because I am pretty sure that it was working properly for few times after installation, and then I do not know if system installed some updates in the background or so and it stopped.

    Anyway thanks again
