Cura not slicing a large file

Hi everyone,

I have been using cura for a while now, this is my first post. I can manage most prints and they are flawless with cura.

However, I have had an issue where I am wanting to use an stl which is approximately around 750mb. However, when I go to slice, it says 'processing; and then 'slicing'.

The issue is that the slicing bar doesn't move even after 6 or 7 hours there is no progress. 

The computer is no slouch, its an i7-6700k with 16GB ram and an Nvidia 1070 card running windows 10 and using cura 4.8

Never ran any file as big as yours. If you have the CAD file you can try different saving or exporting settings that would reduce the file size (by using a more coarse STL setting).

That's a big file.  Can you scale the model down in Cura?

As a check - if you throw out all the supports and infill and keep the settings as simple as possible will it finish slicing?

It's maybe also a good idea to check Cura's log files whether there was an error or warning during processing the model.
