Hi All

I have just updated my Ultimaker 2+ Connect to the v1.3 firmware and have seen that we can now add custom material profiles to the printer via USB. But for the life of me cannot work out how to export the material in .ufp (As stated here https://support.ultimaker.com/hc/en-us/articles/360017358580) and when I follow the on screen instructions it points me to a page that is a 404... https://ultimaker.com/materialprofiles

Is anyone able to help me work out how I add custom material profiles directly to the printer?

I have tried:

  • Exporting the profile with the export button, but it only exports in .xml.fdm_material
  • exporting a project that uses the custom profile

But when I connect the USB and try to import it says it cannot find anything.

Thanks!

When you slice something with a special (new) material profile and save the "gcode" to the USB drive, then a ufp file is written to the stick. ufp files are like gcode files, but they include much more information than just the gcode itself. And that's the way it should work to import new material profiles.

But be aware that the material profiles from the marketplace needs an update from the filament vendor to be compatible with the UM2+C. So I am not sure how much profiles are already updated.

Have tried that already and it still didnt manage to find profiles. So I am thinking maybe that is not the way to do it

I haven't tried it yet on my UM2+C, but will do it tomorrow..

Which profile have you tried? Are you sure this profile is ready and updated for the UM2+C?

Maybe it looks like that it doesn't work because of the not UM2+C enabled profile?

"This is possible with profiles that have been updated to be
compatible with the Ultimaker 2+ Connect"

    But I am just guessing...

Hmm, I am not sure if it really works with custom profiles you have created. Of course it should, but I can remember that it is or was also working with the S3 and S5 printers.

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
