Take a photo please of the issue and since I'm pretty sure you are in USA email the photo plus your printer's serial number to support@fbrc8.com and I think (not certain) they can send you a new part of the feeder - the portion that is worn. It might even be free.
I'm not totally following your description but some of these issues they send replacement parts for free. Even if not, it's probably very inexpensive.
