We currently running 2 x Ultimaker S5 printers. One is outfitted with the complete S5 pro bundle and one without. I am working on trying to maximize the print bed area. I had added the 1st S5 printer to Cura awhile ago and have a large printable area (see photo 1). More recently, I added the second printer and have a smaller printable area.

It seems to me that this is a machine configuration; however, both machines have the same configuration. I am unsure why the non-printable area would be different with the 2 machines?? I have searched for options to increase the printable area and found this suggestion https://support.ultimaker.com/hc/en-us/articles/360013799339-How-to-print-the-maximum-build-volume-in-Ultimaker-Cura; however, these apply to settings directly in the printing profile, which isn't loaded in at the start up of Cura before I put a model on the build plate.

I have also read of adding modifications to  the starting and ending gcode in the machine setup, but this is not ideal, as the code needs to be updated in every Cura update.

Any suggestions???

The dark area is "reserved" by Cura for printing a brim or skirt. You have likely set the buildplate adhesion type of the first machine to "None".

Thank you! I used your advice, along with disabling the 2nd nozzle and now I have reduced the non-printable area.

Thanks for the input.  Turning off the 2nd extruder was the trick.  Time to experiment with creating supports out of part material.
