CuraEngine is crashing

Hello,

Since a day, I get an error when using Cura. Every time I try to do something on an object (moving it, rotation...) CuraEngine is crashing. It starts when I open the file and never work after.

The load bar under the saving icon is starting to load and stops and crashes after 75% approximately.

Yesterday, CuraEngine was not crashing but it was impossible to me to save my object anyway. I was working under the 13.11.2 Cura release so I downloaded the next release and now, I get the CuraEngine problem in both. I deleted everything from my computer to try again but with no result...

Any ideas where my problem can be?

Thanks!

And how big is the STL file? Cura has problems if there are too many polygons (it runs out of memory). A million or so polygons should be fine though I believe. And there are quick techniques for lowering polygon count without making the part any worse.

CuraEngine usually does not run out of memory (I've seen it use 700MB tops, while it can use 3GB max)

However, the current release contains a rare bug that can be triggered by the geometry of the model. Try scaling it by 1% up or down. Or rotating the model a bit, that might work around the bug.

I have a fix lined up for the next release, most likely out tomorrow.

What platform is this - Windows, Linux, Mac?

Are there any non-english characters in your filenames?

    I am under Windows 7 x64

There is no non-english characters and it is not working with any of my stl files.

Stl are not so big, and as I said it is not working with any of my files.

And finally, Daid, I have done that, my stl files need to be resized before printed.

Maybe I have to say that we are using dual extrusion too. The problem appeared when I uploaded two stl to make a dual extrusion (it worked before for the same joining), tried to save it as amf and to reload it but no way to save it as gcode.

@Debakanta; Double posting your question, especially on a very old topic, isn't going to get you a faster response.

    Hi Nallath,

If I try to use GUI it is generating the gcode with proper contents.

But, when I'm trying to produce the gcode using CMD Command prompt it is producing gcode with very less and wrong contents.

Every time it is showing GNU Affero General Public License message.

Can you please guide me how to over come this issue.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Debakanta

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
