Filament diameter for UM2?

I started using Cura in the weeks before my UM2 arrived with my printrbot and there, like in Repetier/slic3r I could set the filament diameter (which I thought was needed for planning the slicing).

When I select UM2, the option goes away. I'm printing some slightly thicker filament, and I set the size on the UM2, but wondered if it makes a difference in the extrusion planning.

When I save the profile, the setting for filament_diameter is set to 2.85.

I'm using filament that is more like 2.99

When slicing for the UM2, the extrusion amounts are expressed in terms of cubic mm, not linear mm of filament. So the slicer doesn't need to know the diameter of the filament.

However, on the UM2 itself, the diameter does have to be correctly set.
