Cura 4.11 is VERY slow, ??

New to Cura, heard it was the best.  Unfortunately, the program is unreasonably slow to open. Take about 1min.  When finally open, most of the program operates well, EXCEPT when opening the "preferences" options dialog... It literally take 1-2 minutes!  Once that's open, it's another painful few moments to get the "materials" or "profiles" sections open.  Obviously, this is very frustrating and time consuming for a first time user who's trying to dial in settings.  What is going on?? There's no way this is the top 3d printing slicer software.

And before you ask, here are my computer specs:

Windows 10

AMD 5900x

64GB DDR4

RTX 3080ti

All Cura related software is on a Samsung 970EVO SSD

... so it's not the computer.

I cannot say what's the problem with your installation, but I can say that it is not normal.

Maybe some additional software on your computer, like antivirus or something like that?

I do have mapped network drives!  I'll check this out and report back.

To follow up: This must be exactly it!  I'm opening Cura "as administrator" now, and it seems to be working fine.  Thank you!

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
