Posted · Is Ultimaker Cura 4.10 last version to support Cubicon Prima M22Z printer?

Hi all, excuse my newbie question! Just bought a Cubicon Prime-M22Z and installed the 4.10 version. Everything is fine, can print with joy.

Tried to upgrade to 4.13.1 but my printer won't be in the list and using a random cubicon printer I was not able to print eventually.

How can I configure printer to match my M22Z?

Thanks in advance,

Alessio

Did you ask Cubicon if they submitted an M22Z definition to Ultimaker?  Some of their printers are included in Cura.  If the M22Z is a new model then maybe you have to wait for a future release of Cura for the definition files to be included.

Another thing is that my installation of 4.10 doesn't have a definition for the M22Z.  Is your version of 4.10 an Ultimaker version or a fork from Cubicon?

    Thanks GregValiant for the reply.

I'm still digesting the overall 3d printer ecosystem; no, I haven't reached them as they don't seem super reacheable on this specific printer, which works fine.

They provide you with a link to a Ultimaker Care "special" version I'd say, which has M22Z configuration. Once you upgrade to the offered one, you lose everything (so the advice is to not upgrade).

On the amazon page there is a buyer commenting that he's using another software to produce gcode for the M22Z... would it be possible?

    Thanks again,

    Alessio

I was able to use the latest Ultimaker Cura 4.13.1 by copying pasting definition json, extruder json, and Prime M22Z mesh, from provided one to the 4.13 program folder. Works like a charm, I'm trying the beta version now!

That's the way to do it.

I had started a response explaining that but it got long and involved in a hurry.  We never know how capable someone is when they ask a question.

I am new to 3d printing and am wondering how you did this.

You can download the 4.10.0 version from HERE.   I don't know that the M22Z is included so you need to see if you can install it in 4.10.

If you can, then it's possible you might be able to migrate the printer files to a newer version.  It's usually just a case of copying the files from one Cura version to the equivalent folders in the new version, or better, into your personal "Configuration Folder" that Cura creates in your user directory.  That's for Windows by the way.  MAC and Linux are likely different but I don't know them.

For those of you playing at home, the easiest way to find said folder is in Cura, open the Help menu at the top and click Show Configuration Folder and that'll pop it open in Windows explorer, or your default file manager on Linux.

Might also work work that way on Mac. Don't have one to test with.
