Hello all,

I am printing with some 3rd party non- marketplace spools, and I can't seem to get the Material Station to give me the option to select them properly.

For example, I have 3 PLAs- the UM PLA that comes with the printer, a spool of BASF PLA PRO1, and a cheap spool of MH Build PLA. I duplicated the Generic PLA material in Cura to build the materials for the last two, and they are well dialed in. However, since they are both linked to Generic PLA, they are not sync'd to the printer, which will only work if they are set as Generic PLA. Unlinking the materials from Generic PLA makes them show up separately, but now loses the nice array of profiles, and in one case bugged out my material profile to now only show "Not Supported"

This would be fine to leave as linked to Generic, except this now means that I cannot have both PLAs loaded into the Material Station, as they are equivalent in the eyes of the machine.

Any advice?

Actually, something I just noticed- The profiles are tied to what is entered into the material type field. I had previously thought that was just for placing the material into the right "Folder". I was getting the Not Supported profile on my carbon fiber filled Nylon because I had set it as just Nylon, which has no profiles for the 0.6 CC core.

That explains part of my problem, at least. I do wish that the profiles weren't tied to the type, that slightly clutters the menu on the Material Station.

Hi FTsabrovAS, Did you ever manage to sort out the material issue? I seem to have a similar problem. I have an FLSUN SR printer and a roll of BASF- PRO1 filament. However I cannot find the material profile in Cura and am not savvy enough to make up a profile for it myself.

    Did you find a solution?

    Thanks,
    Ivan.

@IGB3D you probably want to get the profiles here: https://forward-am.com/material-portfolio/ultrafuse-filaments-for-fused-filaments-fabrication-fff/engineering-filaments/ultrafuse-pla-pro1/ or from the material store withing Cura, though I don't see PRO1 mentioned there.

It is still a PLA material so it is likely that if you put the printing temperature found on the linked site in a copy of a PLA profile you would be printing fine with a minor amount of testing.

On ultimaker printers the generic brand is kind of special, this means the material is listed in the first set of options and the brand will be left out of that.

And the type is certainly important but materials are identified by type, brand and color (on the printer)
so if you define the color as generic as well the type is the only identifier left.
