Layer preview not working properly?

Hello,

I am having a problem with my layer view. Say, for instance, I'm trying to print this 20x20mm cube: image.thumb.png.bcd85f5c751f64dcc3276ce7172ad3f1.png

After slicing, I select preview (either in the bottom right or top of screen) and I get this wonky result-image.thumb.png.f6d8b7f75221f22661abde5653a85bf0.png

as if the item isn't sliced at all (however I know it is, as the time and layer count is accurate). Furthermore, the vertical slider on the right does nothing, and pressing the play button does show the model, albeit dark gray (even though color scheme is selected as 'Line Type').

When I save the .gcode and reopen it, the file does not show, and merely produces the empty buildplate. I first had this problem on my older version of Cura, so I downloaded the newset version and am still faced with this problem. This error simply happened out of nowhere--does it have to do with my GPU? I might just be stupid and the solution is right in front of me, but please help.

Note: the .gcode file does still work as normal, it's just odd how the layer view doesn't render correctly.

Make sure you have them all turned on except for "Only Show Top Layers".

"Only Show Top Layers" will only be an option in "Compatibility mode", which OP is not using.

In the 3rd screenshot, the horizontal slider at the bottom is at the beginning of the layer. If you move it from left to right (or press the "play" icon), you will see the top layer being filled in. Sometimes Cura gets confused whether it should be showing just the top layer in color, or all of them. Normally scrolling through the layers with the vertical slider will fix that.

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
