Spiralize watering can fails

Hi @cura0815,

Welcome in here.

I've tried slicing this water can using spralized "mode", single wall and 5 layer bottom.

There is no issue with extruder jumping from cone tip to water outlet place (front of the can) as far as I can see.

I'll think you better save your "Project" file, containing; your model, Cura version with all of your setting for the model, then someone will look for sure.

Here's how detail what it looks like in the gcode viewer Cura 5.3.0:

Here is my project file (for printer UM2E+):

UM2E_watering_can2.3mf

Thanks

Torgeir

Torgeir's project sliced fine for me as well.

Check the settings "Outer Wall Inset" and "Horizontal Expansion" and "Horizontal Hole Expansion".  They can have an effect when features get close together.

    tnx,

i tried the 3mf file, but the behavior is the same.

"Outer Wall Inset" and "Horizontal Expansion" and "Horizontal Hole Expansion"

    are all set to 0.0

    All settings are basically defaults.

i just noticed when i change from draft (0.3mm) to normal(0.2mm)

it works. seems a bit strange to me.

I actually printed it but I used the SmartAvionics fork as I like it better for Spiralize.  So I guess any comparison would be apples and oranges.  At .2 layer height and .6 line width it came out well.  A couple spots of super glue and in a few minutes it was rigid enough for use.

    Hi there.

Why not give the latest version of (Cura 5.40 B1) a try?

    So I did this:

Here are the "water" test, a picture of how the gcode file from Cura 5.40 B1 look line viewed in S3D.

When the "water" test looks like this -also in S3D, I'll know the object will print nicely with my UM2.

(Did you notice the "big" difference in Cura 5.30 and later ?)  🙂

    Happy mid summer to all.

    Thanks

    Torgeir

    i think i found it

in 0.3m layer height cura tried to add a tiny bit of support while in 0.2 it did not.

disabling it manually seems to fix it.

    tnx

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
