Thermocouple error?

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited) · Thermocouple error?

Hi All,

Resurrectng a UM3 extended with latest firmware, 5.3.0.20211003.

Two new printcores, the one in question has done 18 hours, mainly printing benchies to troubleshoot.

Early on, found out that the printcore front fan had failed prior to me buying it last week.  So, core may have overheated, but max temp recorded in the settings is 260 degrees, not overly hot

Have problems with random changes in print quality.

I logged in to the printer via IP for the first time today and had a look at the temperature chart.

Are the spikes in this a thermocouple error?

Regards,

A

You could check if probably the path above the nozzle is partially blocked because of the previously failed cooling fan.

Btw. I have a printcore that says this (works fine tho):

    Hi glx,

Thanks for the reply. did a hot and cold pull prior to posting. All clear.

Also ‐ wierdly my printcore shows a max temp in the 200s

    Appreciate your input.

I'm trying to troubleshoot a few things on this machine with partial success.

    Hi @Andrew_F,

To answer this simple, -there is an open (rupture) in your temperature wiring!

When this happen, the the temperature go sky high..

"How high, depend of the internal circuit after the "PT100" input!"

So, there is a broken wire, some place between your nozzle and the feeder!

This is where the wiring bundle always move/bending, -just look here.

If this was a permanent failure, it would fail all the time, but this is intermittent -so a now and then connection..

The wires always on a move, -suffer the most, -go figure.

    Thanks

    Torgeir

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
