Ultimaker2 homing problem

I have just installed the latest firmware 14.06.2 June 16 2014 using CURA and the previously working printer now will not home on X and Y . Its making bad grinding noises when I home and the screw is up against the side wall. Is there a way to adjust the home settings within cura or is there a patch to fix this firmware. I use a Mac and would appreciate any guidance on how to fix this.

It's more likely a hardware problem with the homing switch(es) I think. With the power turned off, move the head towards the left side of the machine, just before it hits the wall you should hear a faint click. The same applies when moving the head towards the back of the printer. If you don't hear the click you'll need to slightly adjust the end stop switch. This is easy to do, just undo the screws that hold it in place and slide it towards the print head and then re-tighten.

The load grinding sound also called the "death rattle" will not harm your printer but you need to fix this. Are you sure it's both axes? It often appears to be both axes but in fact is only one axis that doesn't home properly.
