Prints suddenly stops, creates "nest"

I've been using Cura for slicing, been tweaking a lot because it sometimes prints in the air.

Then I got this model and when I started printing it, machine suddely stops without prior notice and stays in place, creating a nest of plastic.

If your printer is crashing in mid-print and freezing up, then I'd say it's most likely a problem with the hardware/firmware on your printer.

The actual gcode that Cura generates is just a pretty straightforward collection of straight line print segments; it shouldn't cause a correctly functioning printer to behave like you are seeing.

When I have this problem, it is usually due to power glitch,

after switching the oven in the kitchen or power plugs with multiple extensions :-|

But I do have my UM running with USB, I have the restart the PC and reconnect with Cura.

    Illuminarti:

im beginning to think so. I will contact the company to see if they can send me previous firmware versions to try and re-installing in the printer.

xeno: its running directly for SD card, and no, no items were being switched on or off during orinting, but its good to have that noted.

Nallath: yes, I always right-click> eject SD card.

Right now is either that problem from Cura, or not printing at all from a Simplify3D gcode. Very frustrating.

    Thanks for the replies.

I had the same, 2,5 hours in my 2nd overnight 8 hour print :(

I can;t think of a reason other than a corrupted file on the SD card. So I reloaded and removed safely. Will report tomorrow morning.
