Changing .skp Files to .ini Files/Sketch UP to CURA

Hello,

My name is Seth. I recently was using .skp files on Sketch Up. I wanted to change my file from .skp to .ini and back. I really just want to know if this is possible now.

If not...no harm done. I will just have to start using my Printrbot Simple (1403) with CURA. Let me just ask this question first. Does CURA use .ini files? If someone out there knows the answer to this question, please contact me via this feed.

Cura and most other slicers use STL files. You can export sketchup files to STL files with a free plugin.

You can also export collada files from sketchup and load those into Cura.

(And this has nothing to do with ini files. ini files contain settings, not the 3D model)

I also know from recent experience that you can export models in Wavefront .OBJ format, without the need for third party plugins (Pro version, I don't know if the free version does).

Cura supports OBJ too.

p.s. I hope you're aware that while Sketchup makes great looking visualizations, they are not necessarily suitable for 3D printing. It isn't just a matter of file format, it's a question of the file (in whatever storage format) describing a watertight solid model.
