Hello all

I have been trying to print a front panel for one of my projects,

Just a flat plate with two raised pipes, both pipes have external tread 1mm pitch,

The first pipe 20mm round with a hole (16mm) right the way trough, and that part prints fine, But the other pipe which is larger 60mm x 9mm high with a 53mm inner To a depth of 7 mm,Also a 10mm x 10 mm hole at the bottom ,Just fills up with grid. I have no grid turned on. I have redrawn the project over and over again. Each time using different technique

Has any one got any idea please?

If you use "xray view" in cura it will show in the color red any problems (missing walls or extra walls). Also if there is no red seen then you might want to *uncheck* fix horrible.

Fix horrible will not modify your stl file. So don't worry about that. It just modifies the slicing algorithm to fix things on the fly.

Yes that did it thanks, In Fix horrible set to keep open faces,

Now what you draw is what you print, As long as you draw the way the printer prints.

Maybe keep open faces should be default?

No as it may fix some "bad" models but it can mess up a perfectly good model.

CAD programs like "google sketchup" are meant for creating computer graphics and allow you to place triangles/planes/2D objects anywhere. They don't work so well for making prints.

CAD programs like solidworks only create 3D objects (not 2D objects) and are meant for designing real things that exist in the 3D world. They work great with Cura and all the "fix horribles" can be unchecked.
