Sometimes I heat up both sides with the hot end and melt some plastic from the hot end onto each part and slap the two together. Only works with small joints and It isn't always pretty, but the resulting joints seem as strong as the parts.
I think the OP should clarify but I believe he/she is looking for something to permanently bond parts together as opposed to sticking things to the build plate.

Yep. Bonding parts together. i normally use super glue but i'd like something that can hide seams as well and is relatively easy to apply.
If gluing parts together is the issue, acetone will work fine on ABS, for which it is a solvent, but it won't work on PLA at all. Superglue is as good as it gets for gluing PLA.

As far as I know, it only works for ABS.
