There's no chance you are over-extruding and the infill is coming out a little high, is there?
No, usually I am quick to fault myself but my UM2+ has been doing some really really good prints lately. This one just surprised me with the grinding noises. First print using Beta 2

Combing Mode Off for that? That's interesting.
I just don't understand why the default UM2+ profile would require that disabled.

One issue I am still facing with Cura is the dreaded rumble (heard in beginning of video
Yes, I could use z-hop but I really, really think Cura should be smart enough to not do this. Every. Damn. Time.

Any updates on how to make materials.txt survive power off and on?
-
The one I have been using is one that @frederiekpascal shared. I can't seem to find it in the search.
With @Neotko 's help, I have refined it some and made some really nice prints in @ColorFabb nGen filament that needed the support structures S3D offers.

It seems to work on the ones I COMMENT on. By on my own post I created...it does not.
-
Just noticing that when I had comments on my 3D Print, and had notifications on...I do not get any.
-
Don't keep quiet if you have constructive comments
I just wanted to gently correct you, its much easier to people to report issues here and go through the entire Asana mess
-
Wrong, they said to chime in here. And the Devs have answered (i.e. Nallath)

I'll admit, the idea of putting together another printer isn't my favorite thing. Then, kick into that I'm already upgrading from stock, based on the feedback of others in the group!
I'd much prefer something I can unbox, setup, let it do it's calibrations and commence printing.

My understanding is that this thread is just here to vent and get our frustrations out, not to address real problems. Search is broken, navigation is broken, you loose your replies to posts, user interface is questionable, ... all these have been flagged months ago but apparently nobody cares enough to fix these.
On the bright side the community (I mean the people) is great, this is probably why we are still around against all odds...
Well said!

Just bought one of those FolgerTech FT-5's last month!
Have some stuff on order, E3D Aero (upgrade for my E3D v6 & Titan), Duet Wifi, 7 inch touch screen....and I need to CNC the wood parts to aluminum. I bought the bracket from Adafruit. Should be an interesting build

I am really impressed with my Ultimaker 2+, so much so I am selling off my Ultimaker Original. I just don't need to tinker as hard with the UM2+ for a great print. (Plus I am always doubting my building skillset when bad prints happen!)
The Ultimaker 3 is a very, very nice printer. On my wish list for a while.
-
Were you at the Ultimaker 3 release in Brooklyn? Ultimaker invited me down, beautiful city...quite different from my house here in Maine. My printers quietly churn away in the basement where the temperature stays around 61-63 degrees (F) and low humidity

I've done the same research, narrowing it down to the Raise3D and the gcreate gMax.
The Raise3D has some issues if you want to use materials besides PLA or ABS as there isn't a way to control the fan speed. The Facebook group has some good posts about modifications others have made.
The gcreate gMax is very interesting but I am not a fan of moving build plates.
I hope Ultimaker has something in the works!

nGen prints well, it takes some trial and error to get the settings right....but I have grown to love the stuff
However, if your part needs some strength, nGen is a tad weaker than PLA and you might want to consider the newer filaments Ultimaker offers (Nylon, CP, etc)
-
I would love to know this, too.
And I suspect, as with past printers, it is Top Secret
But some hints would be nice
-
Note that a new beta was posted yesterday. I have not yet tested if the above issue is fixed with it (but rest assured that it has been reported and will be fixed before the official version of 2.5 ships).
Is there a short list of changes?

It's hard to log into, the screen refreshes a lot
And under "Community" there is no link for Forum

Well I smell a conspiracy!!!

Hello...
I'm selling my Ultimaker Original that I bought and built from the kit.
I upgraded it last year with the Ultimaker heated bed kit, so this isn't a experimental setup. (The kit replaces the Z motor too).
The printer also has a dual fan shroud setup, for improved part cooling. The nozzle is a first generation Olsson Ruby that works great with everything from PLA, nGen and abrasive filaments like CF20 (carbon fiber).
I bought an Ultimaker 2+ a few months ago and find myself not using this printer much. I'd like to sell it off and use the proceeds for an Ultimaker 3 at some point
I'm asking $1200 + shipping.
The Original kit was $1800, the Ultimaker Heated Bed Upgrade was $320
This is an ideal printer for someone that likes to tinker! It needs a little calibration to print perfectly but does extremely well as is.
LED lights are not included (re-using those on another printer)
Here's a recent print at 0.10 mm layer height.

You know, if you have a nice car, you wouldn't put poor quality parts or fuel in it.
Why go cheap on your Ultimaker replacement motor?
I think the extra money spent on a known-good replacement will save you some frustrations in the future.

Since he's mentioned using a different feeder (Bondtech), could he upgrade the Ultimaker 2 print head alone? What parts are needed? Spacer, Olsson block, bigger heater...what else?
Having to use Move Material for additional prints
in UltiMaker Cura
Posted
Well I hate to say this....it is still happening
I just finished an 8 hour printer (from Cura) and went to start another print. After the print started, it did the usual priming but nothing came out. I left it alone and by the second skirt pass, i was getting little dots and finally some material coming out. I aborted the print and went in Maintenance on the Ultimaker 2+ menu and Move Material.
Here's the last section of gcode for that print if it helps at all?
