  1. Well I hate to say this....it is still happening

I just finished an 8 hour printer (from Cura) and went to start another print. After the print started, it did the usual priming but nothing came out. I left it alone and by the second skirt pass, i was getting little dots and finally some material coming out. I aborted the print and went in Maintenance on the Ultimaker 2+ menu and Move Material.

Here's the last section of gcode for that print if it helps at all?

    G1 X108.094 Y60.877 E7637.16175
    G0 F9000 X107.95 Y60.888
    G0 X107.895 Y60.892
    ;TIME_ELAPSED:37697.600969
    G10
    M107
    ;End of Gcode
    ;SETTING_3 {"global_quality": "[general]\\nversion = 2\\nname = empty\\ndefiniti
    ;SETTING_3 on = ultimaker2_plus\\n\\n[metadata]\\ntype = quality_changes\\nquali
    ;SETTING_3 ty_type = fast\\n\\n[values]\\nadhesion_type = skirt\\ncoasting_enabl
    ;SETTING_3 e = True\\ncool_fan_speed = 90\\ninfill_pattern = triangles\\ninfill_
    ;SETTING_3 sparse_density = 50\\nlayer_height = 0.2\\nretraction_combing = off\\
    ;SETTING_3 nsupport_enable = True\\nsupport_type = buildplate\\ntop_bottom_thick
    ;SETTING_3 ness = 1.2\\nwall_thickness = 1.2\\n\\n"}

  2. There's no chance you are over-extruding and the infill is coming out a little high, is there?

No, usually I am quick to fault myself but my UM2+ has been doing some really really good prints lately. This one just surprised me with the grinding noises. First print using Beta 2

  3. My understanding is that this thread is just here to vent and get our frustrations out, not to address real problems. Search is broken, navigation is broken, you loose your replies to posts, user interface is questionable, ... all these have been flagged months ago but apparently nobody cares enough to fix these.

On the bright side the community (I mean the people) is great, this is probably why we are still around against all odds...

    Well said!

  4. I've done the same research, narrowing it down to the Raise3D and the gcreate gMax.

The Raise3D has some issues if you want to use materials besides PLA or ABS as there isn't a way to control the fan speed. The Facebook group has some good posts about modifications others have made.

The gcreate gMax is very interesting but I am not a fan of moving build plates.

I hope Ultimaker has something in the works!

  5. Hello...

I'm selling my Ultimaker Original that I bought and built from the kit.

I upgraded it last year with the Ultimaker heated bed kit, so this isn't a experimental setup.  (The kit replaces the Z motor too).

The printer also has a dual fan shroud setup, for improved part cooling.  The nozzle is a first generation Olsson Ruby that works great with everything from PLA, nGen and abrasive filaments like CF20 (carbon fiber).

I bought an Ultimaker 2+ a few months ago and find myself not using this printer much.  I'd like to sell it off and use the proceeds for an Ultimaker 3 at some point  :)

    I'm asking $1200 + shipping.

The Original kit was $1800, the Ultimaker Heated Bed Upgrade was $320

This is an ideal printer for someone that likes to tinker!  It needs a little calibration to print perfectly but does extremely well as is.

LED lights are not included (re-using those on another printer)

Here's a recent print at 0.10 mm layer height.
