Perhaps you are Looking for something like this Jonny?
Bookemarked it because its on my to do list For a UMorginal you could probably make the bowden tube shorter.
Just add some springs to give the feeder some movement and reduce the weight.
With a standard bowden tube and some springs, you can cover a 400x400 platform.
Edit....
pretty sure the owner of the site is among the forummembers somewhere....

For a recent woodfill print that burned at the end with the slowing down to respect the layer height I've asked for their opinion on how to improve:
As always, the reply was excellent. Even though It doesn't completely apply to this situation, I did want to share their answer with you all. It might be of help:
I will send them a mail, if they know off, or can come up with a solution of my 'Blob' retraction problem?
That's where you pay the $$ for I guess
Left Cura, Right S3D

Oke okeehj, point taken... :-P
I follow this topic, sure I read about it when a solution is found

That's quite an article you wrote... pfffff. :-P .
In general, designing with your printer in mind should everybody do. But let cura do the work. design the thing as you want it and let cura do the thinking. Did you compare some cura times, with real printing time. that's a difference sometimes.
I normally take a cut of the (in my opinion) trickiest part. And give that a try on the printer, see what really happens.
I think the kind of printing we use is not yet (will never be) ready for the things you want. Tolerances like H7 or H8 are out of reach. Just because the fact of external influences, Like room temperature's, wich roll of Pla, wich color.
A hole near to the heated bed will be smaller than higher up in the print.
I might be easier to design the print as a cast Iron mold, and machine the tolerances. use a drill or something

-
The printing part is almost covered ..
Printing forgotten ones, some adopters with (no Ultimakers ) broken printers.
The biggest job for now is fitting it al together.

Okeehj,

Any imagery of the current status? Your website doesn't seem to show much news from the last few months?
Impression of today's status......

Hallo,

-
Thanks for reply!
Option no 3 worked! , to have smaller wall thickness than the rib. But I want to have thicker walls..
I want to avoid more infill cause I will do a lot of this parts and as it is now it will take over 20hours
Euhmm Option 4..
I made myself a test piece once. starting with Ribs of 1mm, down to 0.2.
As I recall Strange things happening In Cura. You might be lucky, adding a tenth of a mm. It might show the Ribs when you set a thickness of ex. 1.9mm. It might show the lines in cura, but no guarantee if and how it prints  .
Option 5,
Leave out the Rib and Use Glue?
-
Using Autodesk 123D Beta, but you have to search for an old version. The newer ones are to limited.
But you have to be logged in to write stl's. Normal drawings can be saved off-line.
I use Rhino5 for more complex shapes.
-
Option 3
Are the missing walls smaller than the set wall thickness?
Looking thin, no reading glasses around, but I think I read wall thickness 1.5 in Your screenshot.
Give it a Try with a 0.5mm wall and see if it helps.
You can Use more infill for strength troughout the part

Blizz thank you I have been trying to get on with s3d and I'm sure I will a few teething problems priming ect and moving into print position without the mess of the prime..
Bob
Hi Bob,
perhaps you found it somewhere else, but you can change the startup g-code at the script tab.
Make sure to take the first process, in the 4th line the E value is extruded length.
The annoyingly slow speed to the startposition is in the 2nd line the F value.
Although... on a UM2 it might be different
-
damm i just found out about this. i'll have a go tomorrow i would like to say a 2 week version is probably better
Hi Martijn,
you might see aaron in NewYork. Please remember to talk him into organizing a next MPC!!!
A couple of post earlier he more a less resigned
-
Hey guys, looks like there aren't really any official submissions. Thanks for the participation regardless ! It appears that the MPC isn't really taking off though so this will be the last one. It was fun, and actually really challenging; that mini gear was a tough nut to crack. Hope to see your future prints in Post Your Latest Print!
Ho ho aaron,
I'm bad with regulations  , but mine was official :-P .
Perhaps this challenge was a little hard, even to get the big size rolling?
I Could not match-up with the small size of Sander's submission though, Perhaps because of some Ice-bucket challenge .
So I think the winner is Sander, ( if he did not use the R&D department? ).
It's a shame it's the last one :(. but thanks for starting it!!!!.
Although I do hope you come up with another one!
