I think there is a ambiguity about the notifications settings. For example I'd like to disable notifications about new 3d prints that show up on the bell icon on the top right:
I thought I'd be able to do it in the "settings" area that is on the top right of the notifications window:
But there I am only able to select "No e-mail". That's not right. I'd expect the notification settings to be also related to the bell icon and not only to email notifications. There is no clear distinction between them.

@eldrick: I've had this too. I think it has something to do with the "shells" setting. I am printing parts with three shells (1.2mm) and when the infill meets the inner shell, the printer produces just a drop of filament instead of finishing the infill line and going to the next one.

Hi,

Keine Ahnung Darauf basierend klingt schon sehr ähnlich. Vielleicht hast du Recht.

Ah ok, this makes sense then

changing nozzles without auto calibration is no problem as long as the nozzles are equidistant (which is the case for the 3dsolex nozzles). I change nozzles 3-4 times a week on two different printers and the minor re-leveling is made within a few seconds while the printer prints the skirt.
@nicolinux: does the auto calibration recognize the difference between two nozzles, or do you have to tweak the firmware?
On my printrbot I have to tweak the firmware after a nozzle change allthough it has auto leveling. This takes more time than turning some screws. But may be the printrbot leveling is just not intelligent enough?
I never tried to adjust the bed leveling while the skirt is printed. I want to press play, wait a second to see if the filament won't catch onto the nozzle and then leave.
Autocalibration does not take nozzle size into account, but you do specify this in Cura when you slice your stuff. Since there are several settings depending on nozzle size (shell thickness for example), I don't think autocalibration should mess with that.
And about the nozzle size - mine from Carl too but not all are the same style/size.

Well this shouldn't happen. Usually after a finished print, the filament is retracted a tiny bit. Then for the next print it is extruded for that amount and some more.
What happens exactly? Does the filament remain solid in the nozzle? If so, maybe the printer thinks the job is not finished. What does the display show?
By the way, which printer are you using? I assumed it to be an Ultimaker 2.

This looks pretty involved (although FSR sensors are the right way IMHO). I hope UM R&D will come up with something ingenious.

About auto calibration: I strongly disagree!
The UM2+ is sold with the Olsson Block with interchangeable nozzles . Every time a nozzle is changed, the bed must be leveled again. Nozzles are cheap (very cheap) so it is perfectly viable to have different nozzles of the same size for different materials (PLA, XT, ABS, Wood, or for different colors). So if you don't print with the very same material for extended periods of time, auto calibration is god send.
And by the way, auto calibration takes as long as you set it to. If you don't want a super fine mesh of probed points, then it takes less than 20 seconds. And given that the UM2 heated bed is super stable, it would just need even less than that.
Don't forget, 3d printers are for tinkerers and makers too and they tend to fiddle with the printer a lot, including different materials and colors...

Can we please get separate settings for feeder 1 and feeder 2 steps/mm, and also the option to invert the rotation for the axis? :-) (for us with a printer that got two different feeders)
I like that feeder of yours sir

@gr5 That's not "easy"
If I'd do that for every filament brand I have at home, I would spend the next days watching the printer print those cubes...

I have a very weird problem with the Cura quick profiles. I don't use them much but I just switched to the "normal" profile and back to full settings. Cura asks if I want the profile settings to be copied.
I hit "yes" and then I get this:
How in the world is this correct? If this happens to others too, then it is now wonder if they get bad prints.
How do I reset _all_ Cura settings? I have looked in the following locations and found nothing:
(Mac OSX 10.10.5 Yosemite):
- ~/.cura (here are the settings from the new Cura 15.x)
- ~/Library/Application Support/
- ~/Library/Preferences/
There is no Cura directory there. Inside Cura itself there are some quick profiles but these are distributed with the app which means they are broken by default. However the "normal" profile there one contains only this (/Applications/Cura/Cura.app/Contents/Resources/quickprint/profiles/2_normal.ini):
[info]name = Normal print[profile]layer_height = 0.1infill_speed = 80solidarea_speed = 15inset0_speed = 30insetx_speed = 60
Infill speed is way too high btw.
Maybe I don't understand how it works, but the other profiles in the "ultimaker2+" directory are weird too. The PLA normal one contains somewhere "nozzle size = 0.35" and "nozzle size = 0.4".
I know Cura 14.x will be phased out at some point, but the vast majority of users do use it right now. It would be a good idea to show it some more love and avoid such obvious errors (if these really are errors at all).
- ~/.cura (here are the settings from the new Cura 15.x)

Thanks Bernd.
And don't worry, I am no Python coder either. But I am on a Mac. Let's see if this works.
-
It will be printed with the infill density selected in Cura.

Ganz einfach: Nicolin + Linux = Nico_linux

UM2 eating up PTFE couplers
in UltiMaker 3D printers
Posted
Hi,
I have a weird issue with my UM2. I have printed with different filaments lately and killed a few PTFE couplers. That's fine because I expected it. But now I have a brand new glass reinforced coupler that looks like this after only 10 hours of printing with PLA:
I used this spring replacement. Could this hardcore deformation happen so soon if there is too much pressure on the coupler?
