Polymaker PC-Plus, Polycarbonate

I just received three rolls of Polymakers new Polycarbonate filament, PC-Plus.

At first glance I find it quite easy to print with, easy to load and I got away printing right away with the settings Polymaker recommends. I have the UM2 Extended.

The challenge seems to be the platform adhesion. Printing straight on the glass heated to 80 degrees don’t work at all, came off after the first layer. Tried to use a generous amount of glue stick, that seemed to work but when I got back to the print a few hours later it had started to come of the bed anyway.

The only thing that seems to work is the Buildtak that Polymaker recommend, and that is included in the package. The hard thing with Buildtak is the buildplate calibration, if it is to close to the nozzle the print fuses totally to the Buldtak and you have to rip it to get it loose :(

Would be nice to find a solution without the Buildtak, so I am open to any suggestions

So far I have printed a coffee-cup with it and it came out great, for exception that I had to sand-paper of the Buldtak from the bottom of it

It have grate strength, I have “thrown” it in to the stone floor several times and only got a small crack in the thinnest point of the handle.

A very nice feature is the glass transition temperature that is well above 110 ºC according to Polymaker. I filled the cup with water and boiled it in the microwave, and the cup was unaffected.

Is there anyone else out there that have tried PC-Plus and have any experience from it?

I havent used it but it Sounds interesting so I'll check it out.

I'm very interest on polymax stuff. E3d sells a pair of their products and imakr has started to store all their products. The interesting part of pc-plus it's that the chemical company behind it's a Bayer subsidiary, so they should know a think or two about making stuff. Also the wood-less foam looks nice to avoid the nozzlemess that makes real wood filaments.

But what about the wood smell, Its the best part of printing with wood filament.

Don't know the polymax stuff, but did try PC-ABS Alloy from proto-pasta.

The warping with this stuff is horrible, much worse than any ABS I tried.

Tried first at 270 bed 100, with only the front closed this was terrible, the warping was very strong.

Then tried at 270 with 110 bed and the top closed, with a few holes in the top not to overheat the E3Dv6 (chamber at +/- 58c) printing is fine but the warping was still way to much. I do like the surface finish of this material.

Got the sample from @ErikDeBruijn (thanks) but this stuff is really to hard to print so I won't buy any more of it...

I'm currently trying out the Polymaker PC-Max which is looking like the real thing at last.

I also tried a reel of the PC-Plus and I have to say I think its a bit on the rubbish side... very brittle and virtually impossible to get a decent large print out of it... despite hours of frigging around with it.

Whereas the PC-Max is excellent when used with WolfBite Mega. Strength is stunning, printing is reasonably easy and just pops off the glass even after annealing.
