cura 2.4 bug - printer profiles dissapearing

so we have a lot of printers in our shop and we use cura on all of them, ever since cura 2.4 came out one of our printers (a bigbox) continually has its profile deleted, forcing me to go in and setup a new printer. pretty much all of our printers use a custom profile so i dont understand why it always singles out our bigbox

Could be a lot of things. All non-um definitions & profiles are contributed by third parties, so the quality will vary. My best guess is that there is a issue with the provided profile(s) which causes the issue.

Hardly know what I'm talking about but could it be of any help to check the bigbox profile in an online .json checker, just to find a potential syntax error ?

there was no supplied profile, all i did was click "add new machine" then "add custom fdm" and give it a name. same thing ive done with all of our other machines and none other than this one have had issues

Think your best bet is to get a working profile from someone who also has a bigbox

In this case I guess e3d is the supplier... why not ask them... I hope they still provide some support?

Hi I think you guys have this wrong; @lance-greene says he is using a Custom profile. This does not use 3rd party contributions - that is when you select Other printer. With Custom printer you set it all up for your printer.

This is I suggest a CURA bug. I suffered it with 2.4 Beta and 2.4 Beta 2 - but I do not recall having seen it in 2.4 Release. Before I installed 2.4 Release I went to the Machine_instances folder and deleted every printer file just in case
