PVA filament

We bought a polybox to store our filament (both, UM tPLA and UM PVA).

Nonetheless, sometimes the PVA material fails to print properly due to insufficient material quality (after a couple of weeks).

Allthough we try to print 24/7 with our UMS5, the PVA spool is too big for us (takes much more than a few weeks to completely print a spool of PVA filament).

 

Would love to see 1/2 spools PVA filament in the near future.

 

Might be a good (and easy) idea? Or is it already available?

It is already available, you can buy 750g and 350g spools.

PVA is a real ... when it comes to humidity.

What i do, i measure the length needed, add some an cut that off the big roll PVA. Then i immediatly reseal the rest of the roll. With the S5 you have the advantage that it detects the end of rol.

The drybox is ok, but the bag is better.

Thats a really good practice, I think I might just borrow that idea the day I start to experiment with my petg rolls 🙂

Do you put that cut-off piece in a drybox too while printing? Or if left hanging in the open air, doesn't it cause problems in long prints (like more than a day)?

Even the short pieces i put in my drybox. Unless it is very dry in the room (like 30%rh or less), then i just let it hang out.
