Updating firmware S5

Hello,

I have a S5 with a firmware older than version 5.1.8.

I read the instructions on the website to upgrade to the new version 5.4.27.

Did I understand correctly that first I need a network connection to update to version 5.1.94 ?

There is no way to do the update directly from a USB ?

I have no possibility to connect the S5 to a network, so then I'm stuck with the old firmware ?

    It is, let's say, tricky.

Maybe you on an old FW Version that need an Internet Connection to set the System Time, otherwise the verification failed.

Thank you all for the reply's. I did the upgrade to 5.1.94 with the file1 and file2 links.

And after upgraded without problems to 5.4.27. I just found the instructions a bit confusing, if it would say ….

OR if you are updating from firmware 5.1.8 or older, download both files below (.tar and .tar.sig) onto the root folder of your USB stick

    Thanks.

I did this on my USB drive but I'm still getting the "failed to verify" notification. Is there something you do with these files on the printer that I am missing?

Hi @rose1234, which firmware version are you currently on, and to which firmware version are you looking to update?

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
