UMS5 Pro Bundle - Print not starting

Hello folks,

we purchased an Ultimaker S5 Pro Bundle and started printing a few days ago. It is an late 2020 model (U on the sidewalls) running on the newest firmware.

Problem description:

When starting a print (or even XY calibration setup) the printhead moves to the front left corner. It loads the material and purges about 50cm of filament. I think up until this point everything is normal procedure. From here on out the printer continues to make strings of filament. It moves between front left corner to mid left corner and creates strings of filament until the print is aborted manually. The display says "PREPARING TO PRINT" and yellow status circle is about 25%.

All in all the printer seems to be very buggy. We have lot's of error screens and wired behaviours loading filament in the station. Sadly not very convinced at the moment. Above issue has to priority, as it brings the printer is a very bad state.

Best,

M

Hi @Xpect, thank you for your message.

Have you tried not aborting the print manually and see what happens?

If I understand your description correctly it sounds like it is priming the print head, which can indeed take a couple of minutes and your print should start by itself with just a little bit more patience. The few strings of filament you should be able to easily clean up from the bottom of your build chamber at the end of your print.

The printer is priming the print head.  Let it do its thing, after this it will map the print bed and then start the print.
