Morning Ultimaker developers ,

I was using Cura Slicer 4.8.0 and I downloaded the new Cura Slicer 4.9.0 and started having problems printing . I tried several different setting as  I thought I had made some changes by mistake. After 5 or 6 attempts I started to reach out to Youtube video sites & Ultimaker (I sent you a email) to see what was going on. I was trying to print items like the "Flexi Pterodectyl & Dragon". The flexi parts seem they were bonded together with other parts and was not able to flex, could not understand  what was going on as I had printed flexi butterflys no problem before. Then I remembered I had downloaded the Cura 4.9.0, so as an experiment I reinstalled a version of Cura 4.8.0 , sliced the same file and guess what, the flexi is printing fine now with Cura 4.8.0.

So, it there a bug or some setting I need to turn off / on in Cura 4.9.0 that will eliminate this problem?

I am using a Lotmaxx SC10 Shark and I have a new  Anycubic Chrion, I am kinda leary  now in using Cura 4.9.0 with my printers now.

Below view the 4.9.0 Cura vs 4.8.0 Cura ( 4.8.0 works fine.. 4.9.0 not printing good, used same file to print in both versions of Cura)

Looking for a reply...

Thanks, AL

I had problems on Cura 4.9 with material retract on extruder 2.  It seemed that the material was retracting on extruder change but was not going back ready to print.  Going back to Cura 4.8 rectified the problem.

I am using Cura 4.9.1 with my Sovol SV01 printer. I found out that my retraction is getting longer and longer over a print. Instead of 3mm i get retractions of up to 10mm and more, increasing over the length of the print. As a result my printer starts clogging. Is that a known bug?

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
