How do I input codes like m220 or m119 before I start printer or during?

In Cura there is a tab called "start/end gcode". You can add your own codes in there and they will get added to the final gcode file.

Or you can use prontrface to send them directly/manually.

It definitely is.

Start/End gcode in Cura is only available when it is configured for normal gcode output. When set up for the Ultimaker², it isn't there, because all the start and ending stuff is done in the firmware.

Just learned this reading through the manual again. I have an ultimaker² so that explains why I'm not seeing it.
