Accuracy

If I adjust XY&Z steps to get a perfect OD, the ID is undersized.  Is Cura not calculating the line width so that a cylinder of 1.5" in dia. and a 1" ID will come out right? Or, do we need to adjust for the ID undersize in our drawing. In machining, we enter our cutter width and the computer adjusts the tool path so your part comes out correct. Isn't the .4 line width the same as a cutter diameter and Cura should calculate the correct tool path? What am I missing.

Hey there. 

Due to the nature of how 3D printing works there can be shrinkage on ID of holes. As it's extruding in a circular motion the material tends to pull inwards.

A lot of people design parts and add .2 or .3mm or so for holes in their designs to cater for this. 

Now there are features in cura like hole horizontal expansion to help make it more accurate. 

There are many factors that can alter the accuracy. Speed, temp, material etc.

This is interesting. Every time I think about and think I the answer, I come up with more questions. It might be good to have hole compensation and OD compensation. In CNC machining we have cutter compensation. Will keep thinking,

Note that it's only vertical holes.  Horizontal holes are fine.
