Posted · Will the Ultimaker 2+ Connect Air Manager work on a 2+ and 3?

Hi there,

At our school we have a couple of Ultimaker 2+ and an Ultimaker 3. I need to install an extraction or filter system to all of them, and was looking at the Air Manager. Obviously this is designed to fit the 2+ Connect, but will it work on the base 2+ and 3?

Thanks

    I really don't know.

I had a longer response here, but having looked into it a bit more, what I said was incorrect so I removed it.

No, it will not work without a hack for providing power and on/off logic since both the 2+ and the 3 lack of the needed connector.

    Hi..

-About two years late, would this "Air Manager" fit an UM S3?

And yes, -it has a connector I do not know what it is meant for..

The measurements of the top slightly differ.. 🤔

    Thanks

    Torgeir

Officially, the Air Manager for the UM2+ Connect doesn't fit any of the other printer models. The UM2+ Connect has slightly different dimensions and there is a power cord for the fan which doesn't fit on the other printers.

With some soft foam you can make the Air Manager fit, not perfect, but workable. The connector at the power cable can be cut off and connected to the build plate connector, the fan will then switch on when the buildplate is heated.

On a side note: Ultimaker published a paper where they explain that with a single printer there are no health issues when printing with the common materials. Only when printing many hours per day, or with multiple printers you should provide extra ventilation. Opening a window suffices often.
