how to load filament in S5 with material station

i am servicing an ultimaker s5 with the material station for a client and cannot find any command to actually load filament into the machine, the only load/unload commands are for the print cores themselves

With the printer switched on, just put the filament roll in the Material Station and put the tip of the filament in the correct entry port (depending on which print core you want to use).

The Material Station should then grab the filament and either detect the type with NFC or prompt the user to select the correct filament.

yes i do this but it only pulls the filament in a few millimeters and then stops. and i cannot find a way of making it insert filament all the way to the nozzle

the only way i as able to actually find and use a load command that fully loaded the filament to the nozzle was to unplug the materia lstatin and bypass it entirely, then the touchscreen gave me an option to load the filament

Basically the short answer is. 
If you are printing with a material station you -don't- load the material directly to the print head.

The machine does that itself when a print is started.

Like wise after a print (and timeout period) the machine will fully retract the material back out of the print head and roll it back up in the material station.

 

Material is not stored at the print head when the machine is not actively printing.

@bacon - do you work for a reseller maybe?  Or do you have a client who hires you for other stuff and they figure you are an S5 expert as well?  🙂
